I think we need to: get it deployed to staging and any issues worked out, then deploy to prod, then... announce to people that they have to set their blog right in account system, then give time for them to do that... running both (perhaps the new one with 'planet-new' or newplanet for domain? then, at some point tell them it's done, cut the old one, switch the new one in place and then we can retire people02
