20:00:30 <briantist> hey there
20:00:32 <nitzmahone> hey hey
20:00:38 <briantist> how was your time off nitzmahone ?
20:00:43 <nitzmahone> Jordan's on PTO today, so just me
20:00:50 <briantist> heh nice!
20:00:57 <nitzmahone> Not bad- got another 10 days off starting Thursday
20:01:09 <briantist> very cool, enjoy!
20:01:19 <nitzmahone> will do my best :D
20:01:40 <nitzmahone> 4 days at the beach, then hanging drywall and painting, woot
20:02:01 <briantist> haha sounds like you have 4 days off and then 6 days of a different job
20:02:25 <nitzmahone> Yeah, more or less- I didn't feel like hiring this particular project out, but it's been dragging on
20:03:00 <nitzmahone> contractors are making out like bandits on this pandemic gig
20:03:14 <briantist> I would always hire that out myself, handywork is NOT my forte
20:03:18 <briantist> but yeah, I bet
20:03:34 <nitzmahone> My old man was a general contractor, so I just grew up doing this stuff
20:04:14 <briantist> I envy those skills :)
20:04:57 <nitzmahone> I didn't say I was good at it ;)
20:05:06 <briantist> ha fair enough
20:05:21 <nitzmahone> I'm actually decent, but I'm slow because I don't do it every day
20:06:36 <briantist> ahh that's kind of me with cooking, although I wouldn't say I'm decent either.. but mostly, I am extremely slow at it
20:06:49 <briantist> that recipe that says 20 minutes? I'll spend 3 -4 hours on it somehow
20:07:06 <briantist> then I'm so exhausted at the end I'm like... well.. that wasn't worth it
20:07:10 <nitzmahone> Yeah- we've been doing Hello Fresh the past few months, and I'm like "*who* the heck can do this prep in 5min that's not a pro chef?!"
20:07:28 <briantist> yeah! prep is serious
20:07:28 <nitzmahone> My knife skills are improving a lot though
20:07:49 <nitzmahone> I've been buying better knives and a decent sharpener, which makes all the difference in the world
20:07:55 <briantist> oh yeah totally
20:08:13 <briantist> I cook so infrequently that I no longer have any good knives
20:08:18 <nitzmahone> I thought my knives were sharp until I got a brand new good chef knife
20:09:14 <briantist> I bought a chef's knife for $5 on amazon 😬
20:09:51 <nitzmahone> Heh, buy yourself a $150 sharpener and you might have something there :D
20:10:03 <briantist> but I did it knowing that I'll rarely use it, and if it goes to crap it was probably still worth it to get another, rather than trying to maintain a knife for years that barely sees any use
20:10:04 <briantist> lolll
20:12:43 <nitzmahone> welp, I've got nothing exciting for the actual meeting today- I think Jordan's working on polishing up the asyncio version of pypsrp when he's back, which we'll hopefully have some use for in the not-too-distant future ;)
20:13:15 <nitzmahone> I'm working on a core-adjacent project that may get debuted at the next contrib summit
20:13:45 <briantist> yeah I've been seeing his commits!
20:13:53 <briantist> ooo anything you can share?
20:14:19 <nitzmahone> I don't think it's a big secret- it's a job submission SDK
20:14:55 <nitzmahone> basically lets you embed Ansible in $languages and invoke things as local subprocesses or over a receptor mesh
20:15:34 <nitzmahone> Right now it's a thin wrapper over ansible-runner, but there are ... interesting places we can go with it
20:16:26 <briantist> that's cool!
20:16:41 <nitzmahone> (and the non-Python versions will likely not depend directly on ansible-runner on the client)
20:17:11 <briantist> non-python eh? like... PowerShell? 🤔
20:17:38 <nitzmahone> I think Go is the first non-Python language on the pile, but C# would be pretty high on my personal list ;)
20:17:46 <nitzmahone> (which would give you PS for basically free)
20:17:57 <briantist> neat! looking forward to hearing about it at the summit
20:18:48 <nitzmahone> not for sure yet, but the prototype Python asyncio-native version went together quickly
20:20:20 <briantist> well I'll let you get back to your day, I got nothing on topic either ;)
20:21:02 <nitzmahone> Cool- I'm out next week, but Jordan will be here
20:21:07 <nitzmahone> Have a good one!
