17:59:45 <zodbot> Meeting started Thu May 7 17:59:45 2015 UTC. The chair is randomuser. Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.debian.org/MeetBot.
17:59:45 <zodbot> Useful Commands: #action #agreed #halp #info #idea #link #topic.
18:01:54 * randomuser is building a repo of ReStructuredText articles to play with
18:12:30 <randomuser> evening, pbokoc
18:14:38 <pbokoc> hello
18:15:29 <pbokoc> randomuser, did you see that relnotes bug from yesterday?
18:17:23 <randomuser> pbokoc, the out of date package one? yeah
18:17:31 <randomuser> I should probably build a new package
18:18:06 <randomuser> Are there any packagers here that are interested in learning how that's done?
18:19:41 * pbokoc hides
18:20:07 <randomuser> hm, fine
18:20:20 <pbokoc> and rest of the Brno people are mostly at the movies
18:21:01 <randomuser> Movie night in Brno, eh?
18:21:21 <randomuser> the theater is open on Tuesdays and Fridays here
18:21:21 <pbokoc> I think so, a bunch of people from the office went to see Avengers today
18:23:47 <randomuser> #info flock talk voting is open at https://admin.fedoraproject.org/voting/vote/flock-2015
18:24:15 <randomuser> pbokoc, are you as antisocial as me, or just dedicated to these meetings?
18:24:46 <pbokoc> randomuser, a little bit of column A, a little bit of column B...
18:25:10 <pbokoc> plus I hate paying for movie tickets, last thing I went to see was the latest Batman... blergh
18:25:43 <randomuser> I've never been a big fan of the theater experience
18:26:12 <randomuser> they always get mad when you pause the film to use the bathroom and grab another beer
18:26:18 <pbokoc> :D
18:28:28 <pbokoc> randomuser, Docs Team Tooling - is that your talk?
18:29:14 <pbokoc> also I spotted "Kerberize All the Things" and got excited for a second thinking it was "Kerbalize"
18:29:19 <randomuser> No, that's jsmith's hackfest. My talk has a more ambiguous name, hoping to draw in the curious and catch them unaware
18:29:45 <pbokoc> oh, Organized Chaos?
18:29:51 <randomuser> yeah, that one
18:30:10 <pbokoc> nice
18:30:42 <randomuser> yeah, I'm excited about it
18:48:12 <yn1v> hello
18:48:33 <yn1v> .fas yn1v
18:48:34 <zodbot> yn1v: yn1v 'Neville A. Cross' <yn1v@taygon.com>
18:48:51 <yn1v> I am trying to get onboard of docs team
18:49:16 <yn1v> looking for some small things to get the hang of how is work flow
18:49:34 <pbokoc> oh, hey yn1v
18:50:33 <yn1v> I got hooked by the chaos talk.
18:50:49 <randomuser> win!
18:51:52 <yn1v> I will be at flock
18:54:25 <randomuser> yn1v, I'm curious about this robotics project you're working on, but I haven't read up on it yet
18:55:22 <pbokoc> yn1v, regarding workflow - the problem is that right now, we don't really have a workflow; to start contributing, you pick something you want to write about, and then you spend a few months learning DocBook (the XML language we use to write documentation) and Git
18:56:02 <pbokoc> so we (well, mostly randomuser) are trying to change that and to move to more approachable formats, like RST or asciidoc or some Markdown flavor, but it's a long process
18:56:43 <pbokoc> also one of the easy things we usually give new people to do is help with release notes, but they're already more or less done for F22, and it's too early to start working on the F23 ones - there's nothing to write about there yet
18:56:55 <randomuser> yeah, sorry; it's kind of an embarrassing thing to confront a new contributor with :(
18:57:11 <pbokoc> eh, I don't think so
18:57:12 <yn1v> I have talk with valentinbasel about it. It is great thing that is in Spanish for LATAM but most tools for translating are thinking in translation software and docs from English to Spanish and not the other way around
18:57:38 <pbokoc> the embarassing part comes when we start explaining how you need a Fedora 18 VM to actually publish something on the website :-D
18:57:40 <randomuser> yn1v, we have docs with es_ES sources
18:58:06 <randomuser> pbokoc, well, emphasis on the 'confront' and not so much the embarrassment, then :P
18:59:34 <yn1v> I have been in fedora for enough time to learn not to be embarrassed with thing not going smooth
19:00:08 <yn1v> I am ready to get some bumps in the learning of helping here
19:00:25 <randomuser> yn1v, admittedly, I think the workflow was to translate to en-US then redistribute for translation - but that's a tooling issue, not a writing issue. IMO people should write in whatever language they're comfortable with, the writing is the hard part
19:02:31 * randomuser accidentally discovers `git add -i`
19:02:39 <randomuser> that's interesting and a little scary
19:02:54 <yn1v> I have no problem writing, and I am not afraid of the xml tags. I get a bit frustrated with git, I need to work more on that
19:03:17 <randomuser> I have to step afk for a bit
19:03:24 <randomuser> #chair pbokoc yn1v
19:03:24 <zodbot> Current chairs: pbokoc randomuser yn1v
19:04:27 <pbokoc> yn1v, well, if you've used Git enough to get frustrated with it, that's already a good headstart
19:05:16 <yn1v> that's encouraging :)
19:05:20 <pbokoc> for reference, here's the repo for the Installation Guide, if you want to have a look at the XMLs: https://git.fedorahosted.org/cgit/docs/install-guide.git/
19:06:05 <yn1v> great, I will look into that
19:06:14 <pbokoc> yn1v, also, we do have a "Fedora Robotics Guide", and looking at the repo it seems the source language is actually Spanish
19:06:26 <pbokoc> it hasn't been touched since 2011 (except for a few maintenance commits)
19:06:29 <pbokoc> https://git.fedorahosted.org/cgit/docs/robotics-guide.git/
19:06:49 <yn1v> my lunch beak is over and I have to get back to work.
19:07:31 <yn1v> I will copy those links
19:07:34 <pbokoc> yn1v, no problem, stop by anytime - randomuser is pretty much always online, and I tend to be here a lot too, although I'm in a different timezone (UTC+2)
19:07:39 <yn1v> thanks for the welcome
19:10:47 <randomuser> yn1v, I would like help with the multiboot guide, if you're interested
19:11:19 <randomuser> oh, break over -later then
19:18:13 <pbokoc> randomuser, by the way, I think you might like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ih2xubMaZWI
19:21:46 <randomuser> pbokoc, that's fun ;)
19:22:20 <pbokoc> randomuser, it started getting a bit annoying after about 3 days of non-stop listening, but I got over it again
19:22:33 <randomuser> I generally listen to somewhat more angry music :P
19:22:39 <pbokoc> the same artist has two more similar songs
19:23:17 <pbokoc> yeah, so do I - I'm a scary man, I can't get caught listening to this
19:23:32 <pbokoc> I've got an image to maintain!
19:25:54 <randomuser> https://youtu.be/47qAMlxcKYA has been a favorite again lately
19:27:57 <grundblom> hey all
19:28:25 <randomuser> hey grundblom
19:29:14 <randomuser> oh, pbokoc, how familiar are you with the works of Mike Patton?
19:30:20 <pbokoc> randomuser, I've only heard about two Pattons, and one got killed in a jeep and the other is a 50 ton tank
19:30:49 <pbokoc> that Helmet song is very... angsty :))
19:30:55 <randomuser> heh
19:31:25 <randomuser> I think you would enjoy going down the Patton rabbit hole
19:32:37 <pbokoc> randomuser, is this him? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxNDKsyvMOI
19:32:37 <randomuser> perhaps start with https://youtu.be/J2TMWhW199o and work over to some of the weirder stuff
19:32:55 <pbokoc> ahahaha
19:33:39 <randomuser> that's him... but older stuff
19:34:34 <randomuser> he's rather eclectic
19:34:46 <pbokoc> I like the gas mask thing
