18:02:07 #startmeeting Fedora Docs Office Hours 18:02:07 Meeting started Thu Jun 18 18:02:07 2015 UTC. The chair is randomuser. Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.debian.org/MeetBot. 18:02:07 Useful Commands: #action #agreed #halp #info #idea #link #topic. 18:02:28 * zoglesby is here but also in another meeting for the next 30-60 min 18:03:22 dashley is here 18:08:56 randomuser: I have made a decision not to document the Python libvirt api. The Python libvirt module has builtin documentation that can be extracted via pydoc. 18:09:37 So I will try to put together a bunch of samples and explanations for the document instead 18:10:28 I spoke with the libvirt team and they will be glad to review the doc and supply patches when appropriate 18:11:52 they had a similar doc started which they invited me to draw from. 18:12:20 dashley, ok, sounds good. If you wanted to put together some py scripting to extract that API documentation into html, the planned publishing tools should support that 18:12:36 with updates triggered via fedmsg when applicable packages are updated 18:12:43 ...something to keep in mind for the future, anyway 18:13:49 pydoc does a decent job of extracting the doc from the module into text or html 18:14:42 crap, I should get on that RFR already 18:15:18 dashley, if we can turn that into a buildbot job, it's halfway there 18:18:43 the command is "pydoc libvirt.py > libvirt.txt" to get it into a text file and "pydoc -w libvirt.py" ti get html 18:19:06 that's easy enough 18:20:42 BTW - the module has not changed in a few years and is not likely to until the next major revision of libvirt 18:20:58 * randomuser nods 18:21:28 if we *wanted* to make it 100% automatic, running those steps on package update would be cheap 18:23:26 and currently the same module is used for both Python 2.x and 3.x 18:25:44 at this point I am still gathering information. I hope to have a better outline for the doc late next week 19:03:23 zoglesby, https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-infrastructure/ticket/4796 19:03:48 I'm curious if putting a FASid in the CC field works :P 19:05:42 randomuser: I did not get an email, but maybe it will work for comments made after this point 19:05:49 perhaps 19:22:11 hi randomuser, how goes? 20:57:48 13trac.git.receive -- stephenw pushed some commits to the 'docs/system-administrators-guide' fedorahosted git repository 10https://da.gd/fLp9 20:58:28 13trac.git.receive -- stephenw pushed some commits to the 'docs/system-administrators-guide' fedorahosted git repository 10https://da.gd/u0yH 00:02:19 13trac.git.receive -- grundblom pushed some commits to the 'docs/virtualization-guide' fedorahosted git repository 10https://da.gd/yvGHU 06:11:01 #endmeeting
