14:35:42 <bcotton> my feelings in general are still mixed. on the one hand, i think IRC is not super approachable for folks. on the other hand, i worry about the proliferation of communication channels
14:36:01 <bcotton> there's a good balance for us to strike, and i'm not sure where i think it should be
14:38:01 <x3mboy> I think there is a lot of opposition, several folks think about anything outside ML and IRC as unofficial, because not many people is "in charge" of them

14:39:16 <bcotton> yeah, it's a little bit of a "chicken or the egg" problem. hard to have a good moderator pool if we don't have a lot of users, but it's harder to get users if it's not an official channel

14:40:20 <bcotton> for better or for worse, IRC has a lot of inertia so we're not looking at replacing IRC so much as adding Telegram. which means folks have one more place they have to monitor
