13:02:22 <nils> .hello nphilipp
13:02:23 <zodbot> nils: nphilipp 'Nils Philippsen' <nphilipp@redhat.com>
13:02:34 <nils> Hi amoloney, hi everybody!
13:02:43 <amoloney> #topic Open Floor
13:02:52 <amoloney> Hi nils :)
13:03:13 <nils> Just noticed that zodbot thinks this meeting will only start in an hour, checking fedocal...
13:04:46 <amoloney> oh thanks Nils, I hadnt noticed
13:04:48 <nils> amoloney, AIUI, the meeting is supposed to be scheduled on 2pm Ireland time, not 3pm UTC -- that's what fedocal has
13:06:01 <amoloney> ah you know I think I had originally had it in for that time and then changed it because of too many conflicting meetings at 3pm my time ... I can change it now to 1300 UTC
13:07:06 <nils> amoloney, sure, but it will shift from 2pm to 1pm your time when DST ends
13:07:21 <amoloney> 🤣 I give up
13:07:46 <nils> amoloney, UTC is almost like London time, but doesn't follow DST
13:08:45 <smooge> morning
13:08:49 <nils> Hang on, it will shift in the other direction
13:09:46 <amoloney> timezones really dont translate in my head at all. I was in Munich a few years ago fot the RH new hire orientation and wanted to watch a hurling match, so found an Irish pub and went there, only to realize I was 2 hours early as I counted back an hour on my phone but that had automatically updated itself too!!!
13:10:04 <amoloney> So, I waited in the pub for the two hours :)
13:10:05 <smooge> I have come to ask about git<muffled sounds of sack being thrown over head followed by sound of pounding wet sand'
13:10:22 <jrichardson> so...you were in a pub for two hours with nothing to do...mistake? really?
13:10:36 <jrichardson> sounds like heaven to me right now
13:11:01 <amoloney> It was originally a mistake....but it worked out well haha
13:11:54 <amoloney> Oh yeah when I think back given everyones situation now it feels surreal
13:12:09 <nils> Let me take a step back: When not on DST, Ireland is UTC-01, when on DST, Ireland is on UTC. A meeting in UTC will then shift (relative to local time) an hour forward when DST begins, and an hour back when it ends.
13:12:15 <nils> I think I got it right now.
13:14:12 <amoloney> see it is confusing!
13:14:26 <nils> So, if you want your meetings to stay in the same time slot for you, schedule them in your own time zone rather than UTC. And bollocks to whoever has the misfortune to live in a place with different DST rules :).
13:15:34 <amoloney> 🤣
13:16:08 <nils> And don't get me started on time zones and confusion. :D
13:17:03 <jrichardson> are we not cancelling DST soon here?
13:17:42 <amoloney> thats been a rumour for years now
13:17:46 <nils> jrichardson, they were discussing this when that pesky virus showed up. Suddenly it wasn't that important anymore :).
13:18:17 <nils> I'm all for it, let's just stick to what's DST right now.
13:18:23 <jrichardson> ah...thought it was a done deal
13:21:23 <amoloney> So how is everyone?
13:21:44 <amoloney> cant believe July is over halfways through!
13:33:20 <nils> I'm fine, somewhat tired. And you?
13:35:16 <jrichardson> tired, a little low energy this week for some reason
13:40:11 <amoloney> yeah a bit the same, Im less sure was it worth taking two days off last week as it might have broken my habit haha
13:41:28 <amoloney> In general its a quiet week anyway as the project teams are getting into their new work and other longer running projects are at a very good pace
13:42:55 <amoloney> Actually I must reply to the email I sent to the lists about feedback on how we engage with community members on a project/initiative level to ask for final feedback by next Friday 31st July
13:43:58 <amoloney> Ive gotten a few good tips off list from folk which is great so if there are any more Id love to capture them and the follow up with what has come back and changes I have made based on that feedback where it made sense to do so
13:44:54 <amoloney> I will typing that email after this meeting :)
14:02:32 <amoloney> thanks for your time all! Cya next week!
