13:01:25 <defolos> 👋
13:01:36 <pingou> ó/
13:01:37 <amoloney> Hi defolos ! :)
13:01:58 <amoloney> #info About CPE https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/cpe/
13:02:06 <amoloney> #topic open floor
13:02:38 <defolos> .hello2
13:02:38 <zodbot> defolos: defolos 'Dan Čermák' <dan.cermak@cgc-instruments.com>
13:03:36 <defolos> not sure if appropriate here, but pingou what's the state of rpm autospec staging?
13:04:21 <defolos> and on that note: any chances we can get more & beefier builders?
13:05:36 <pingou> defolos: well it'll automatically come back as staging is rebuilt (since it's all in ansible)
13:05:51 <pingou> for the builders, I'd not hold my breath
13:06:32 <pingou> (I assume you meant builders for prod here, but my answer applies regardless)
13:07:08 <defolos> yeah, I have this dream that at some point we'll achieve the OBS experience for Fedora
13:07:16 <defolos> but for that to work, we need more builders
13:07:21 <defolos> like a whole ton more
13:09:35 <amoloney> I have nothing really to discuss this week so if you want to use it for more technical, please feel free to do so :)
13:09:43 <pingou> I'm happy to help where I can, but the hardware question is a tricky one
13:11:02 <amoloney> I've just been working on the CPE social hour event for Nest, should it be accepted and included in the conference. Im looking forward to attending in either case, Ive never been to Flock before!
13:11:53 <defolos> looking forward to that as well if it takes place
13:17:23 <defolos> I guess hardware funding is essentially a nogo given your folks above reply?
13:21:36 <smooge> defolos, no we will not be getting 3000 builders
13:21:54 <amoloney> I actually think the builders have improved since the colo move but I appreciate nothing will ever be 100% perfect
13:22:08 <amoloney> or what Smooge said 🙂
13:22:42 <smooge> amoloney, the speed of the builders has improved but the number that OBS is an exponential size larger than what we could put in the datacentre
13:23:51 <pingou> there is the question of leveraging some cloud resources for building, but that requires a non-trivial amount of work to our build system
13:24:22 <pingou> the topic has been discussed a few times, so I know it's in people's mind, but I have no ETA for anything
13:36:37 <smooge> defolos, before we can get the builders we need: a build system which scales to those sizes, people to put in the work to build and maintain that system, a place to put those builders, people to put in the work to care for those builders and someway to pay for it all, My off the cuff estimate is about 4 million in initial capital expenses (with 400,000/year in capex after that) and 6 million a year in operational costs. (The capex can go down
13:36:37 <smooge> and the opex goes up or the opex goes down and the capex goes up). That will need a serious business case (whether this was non-profit, start-up or corporation) and a way to recoup costs
13:55:05 <defolos> that's a lot of money
13:55:24 <defolos> and to be frankly honest, I neither have it nor a way how to get it
13:58:35 <amoloney> If you find a way to get that money please feel free to share it with me too defolos haha :)
13:59:11 <amoloney> guys thanks for your time this week, and I hope to see you over the few days during Nest!
