15:01:40 <pwhalen> good morning folks, who's here today?
15:03:57 * pbrobinson o/
15:05:20 * jlinton waves
15:05:55 <pwhalen> howdy jlinton pbrobinson
15:06:02 <pwhalen> lets get started..
15:06:08 <pwhalen> #topic 1) ==== Userspace Status  ====
15:06:29 <pwhalen> any new userspace issues?
15:06:55 <pbrobinson> firefox I think is still only it
15:07:07 <pwhalen> right, that one
15:07:29 <pwhalen> jlinton, any progress there?
15:08:38 <jlinton> I've been OoO, and the firefox thing is still where I left it last, it builds in the container but the smaller address space of native/VM keeps it from building
15:09:17 <jlinton> and last I checked the version moved again...
15:09:44 <pwhalen> ok, thanks for the update and keeping that going
15:10:29 <pwhalen> for beta we moved our disk images over to epiphany, but perhaps should re-evaluate midori for the final release. Apparently its had a rewrite and more active support upstream
15:10:42 <pwhalen> hopefully we get firefox by then
15:11:40 <jlinton> I've come to the general conclusion that FF is sort of a long term writeoff
15:12:19 <pwhalen> ouch, that bad eh :(
15:12:22 <jlinton> unless upstream starts to make a serious effort to keep the build sizes down, its going to keep growing, maybe build failures on x86-32 will encourage that
15:13:44 <jlinton> but this has happened before, and people just pulled various levers to make it work at that time
15:14:04 <jlinton> same thing with the recent x86 issue, they just passed a couple flags to the linker to reduce its footprint a bit
15:14:40 <pwhalen> has there been any upstream engagement?
15:14:48 <jlinton> (or fedora cross builds it)
15:15:38 <pbrobinson> yea, not sure there's much we can do at least ATM
15:15:42 <jlinton> I don't think there is an upstream defect directly related to this (part of that is the fedora build is still GCC)
15:15:54 <pbrobinson> I'll bring it up at connect and see what Arm in general wants
15:16:22 <pwhalen> sounds good, thanks
15:16:26 <jlinton> I didn't get a lot of buy in with the couple people I spoke to
15:16:33 <jlinton> mostly because of the general move to aarch64.
15:17:22 <pwhalen> right
15:17:38 <pwhalen> ok, anything else?
15:17:50 <pwhalen> #topic 2) ==== Kernel Status ====
15:18:04 <pwhalen> #info F30: kernel-5.0.4-300.fc30
15:18:04 <pwhalen> #link https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=1238636
15:18:18 <pwhalen> looks like this just landed, will start testing it all around
15:19:11 <pwhalen> saw a soft lockup with kernel-5.0.3-300.fc30 on the arndale, I'll check if thats any better
15:20:08 <pwhalen> #info F31: kernel-5.1.0-0.rc2.git0.1.fc31
15:20:08 <pwhalen> #link https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=1238888
15:20:31 <pwhalen> #info Please test and report any issues to the list or #fedora-arm.
15:21:01 <pwhalen> anyone hitting kernel issues?
15:23:00 <pbrobinson> nothing from me
15:23:06 <pbrobinson> well nothing generally
15:23:31 <pwhalen> #topic 3) ==== Bootloader Status ====
15:23:38 <jlinton> the sysfs stuff looks to be landing soon
15:23:45 <pwhalen> #info uboot-tools-2019.04-0.6.rc4.fc30
15:23:45 <pwhalen> #link https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=1236345
15:24:13 <pbrobinson> jlinton: for the vulnerability reporting?
15:24:42 <jlinton> yes
15:24:47 <jlinton> it just missed the merge window
15:24:56 <pbrobinson> I figured it was close
15:26:15 <pwhalen> pbrobinson, anything to note about this uboot rc?
15:26:46 <pbrobinson> I'll be doing a new build probably later today
15:27:08 <pbrobinson> there's nothing of real note, a few known bugs for some devices/boot options
15:27:29 <pwhalen> #info Please test and report any issues to the list or #fedora-arm.
15:27:30 <pbrobinson> there's also a new ATF 2.1rc1 which will be part of that
15:28:42 <pwhalen> anything else for uboot?
15:28:54 <pwhalen> or bootloader
15:29:10 <pbrobinson> please test the grub2/BLS changes#

15:31:36 <pwhalen> the network spoke now appears, but the configuration changes dont take effect until rebooted
15:32:16 <pwhalen> Any other issues when testing F30 RC's?
15:33:39 <pwhalen> #topic 5)  == Open Floor ==
15:35:22 <jlinton> Looks like the fbX master-of-seat problem was solved for "nomodeset"
15:35:27 <jlinton> but that doesn't fix the rpi
15:35:37 <jlinton> (unless you pass nomodeset)
15:36:06 <jlinton> I guess the real solution is to get the vc4 driver to bind properly
15:36:29 <jlinton> (this is with the edk2 firmware)
15:38:19 <pbrobinson> jlinton: I'm not testing the edk2 firmware on the RPi, it seems to work OK with U-Boot, I just don't have the cycles to deal with EDK2
15:38:54 <pwhalen> I've not tested it either but have been meaning to, does it run reasonable well?
15:38:57 <jlinton> Yah, thats fine, I think DT/vc4 will eventually take care of itself
15:39:14 <jlinton> yes, it actually works great
15:39:52 <jlinton> the master-of-seat problem, is the one hangup, and the fact that its fairly slow, but if you set the firmware performance option that helps a lot
15:41:17 <pwhalen> cool, will hopefully get some time soon after beta is released
15:42:35 <jlinton> I need to boot the beta on it...
15:42:49 <jlinton> as well as the hikey
15:43:56 * pwhalen hopes it works ok
