15:03:08 <nils> #topic Agenda
15:03:15 <nils> #info [langdon] thoughts on modular server release
15:04:04 <nils> anything else?
15:04:58 <nils> apparently not...
15:05:00 <jkurik> are we going to have a Change proposal for F28/Modularity ?
15:05:10 <langdon> jkurik: yes.. but it isn't written yet..
15:05:24 <nils> is this for the first topic already?
15:05:26 <langdon> we have been arguing about the architecture
15:05:36 <nils> #topic thoughts on modular server release
15:05:38 <jkurik> langdon: ok, thanks
15:06:26 <langdon> so.. in short, the modular server release was withdrawn because we felt that it was not efficiently maintainable.. a traditional server release will be out ~next week
15:06:42 <jkurik> langdon: today
15:06:51 <langdon> jkurik: duh.. correct
15:07:08 <langdon> mattdm and i were meant to write an announcement.. but maybe he wrote it on his own?
15:07:33 <jkurik> There is a Magazine article waiting for review completition
15:07:38 <langdon> jkurik: cool
15:08:24 <langdon> so.. we found a way to make modularity more incremental.. basically, a way to add modules on top of the traditional distro.. so it can be a more incremental approach..
15:08:55 <langdon> we will be shifting to something like that for f28 .. and, possibly, allowing for modules on f27 as well..
15:09:10 <langdon> unfortunately the design is still being argued over..
15:09:16 <langdon> so no clean answers yet
15:10:10 <langdon> should we just call it here? is there anything else to discuss ?
15:10:29 <nils> langdon, anything you want to #info?
15:10:36 <langdon> good point
15:11:07 <langdon> #info fedora modular server was withdrawn for f27 as it was deemed not maintainable without huge, error prone, effort
15:11:24 <langdon> #info a fedora traditional release for f27 will launch today
15:11:53 <nils> that's it I guess unless someone has anything else...?
15:11:55 <langdon> #info a new, simpler architecture of modules on top of the traditional base is being baked and should be presentable for discussion by next meeting
15:12:06 <nils> ahh ;)
15:12:12 <langdon> thats it though :)
15:13:20 <nils> alright
15:13:36 <nils> #endmeeting
