I'll do some work today itself. 17:19:48 OK, nice. I'll have to do it over the weekend I reckon 17:19:55 #action dhanesh95 FranciscoD look into how easyfix works - WIP 17:20:01 #info linuxmodder clean up free-media related wiki pages - WIP 17:20:28 linuxmodder has begun working on it already 17:20:32 * dhanesh95 needs to start using GTG now. 17:20:43 #info tracker ticket for freemedia wiki gardening: https://pagure.io/fedora-join/Fedora-Join/issue/53 17:20:50 dhanesh95: try taskwarrior :D 17:21:15 We have a few tickets/tasks for sadin, but he isn't here, so I'm skipping those 17:21:32 https://pagure.io/fedora-join/Fedora-Join/issues?status=Open&tags=next-meeting 17:21:47 We don't have any new tasks tbh 17:22:57 #info Next fedora classroom session to be held on 5/7: Ansible 101/102 17:23:14 bt0_ and I are on it already---we have a summary etc already 17:23:24 bt0_: would you be OK writing the magazine post for this one again please? 17:23:39 yeah, I will do it today 17:23:41 #action FranciscoD confirm Ansible 101/102 timings from instructors 17:23:51 bt0_: they haven't confirmed a time. I'll e-mail them right after this meeting 17:24:17 #action FranciscoD look at QA101 transcript and collect metrics 17:24:17 6 I think 17:24:31 oh, have they? I haven't checked my e-mail in a bit 17:25:26 but maybe they want change a little the content ... :p 17:26:06 ah, OK XD. I'll ask them to give us a summary to send out at least 17:26:34 #action FranciscoD e-mail instructors asking for summary to send out 17:26:58 So, that's all our tasks then 17:27:06 Any new ideas etc that we should work on? 17:27:22 * FranciscoD has begun working on https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs/NeuroFedora 17:28:05 FranciscoD: Ask Fedora stuff is done, right? 17:28:23 it's been migrated, yeh 17:28:28 and the channels are set up etc 17:28:59 I do want to do an office hours to clean it up, but I worry it'll mess up the order of questions etc 17:30:05 Great! 17:30:39 Do we need to take up more tasks? If yes, what about mentorship? I see quite a few issues on Pagure related to that. 17:31:44 Yeh, we could take that up next 17:32:15 Maybe see what mindshare is upto etc first? 17:32:21 I'm totally out of the loop 17:32:46 bt0, bt0_: Thoughts? 17:34:40 I remember we hadn't been able to come to an agreement about what mentoring should be etc 17:34:46 we'll have to start from scratch IMO 17:35:01 #action FranciscoD see what Mindshare is upto 17:35:24 dhanesh95: anything else we can do to make -join more active? 17:35:35 FranciscoD: From what I understand about Mindshare, I don't think mentorship is included. There is Ambassadors but I don't see both to be the same. 17:36:30 Yeh, mentorship in Ambassadors is very different. 17:36:34 That's more a screening process 17:37:42 sorry bad connection 17:38:25 bt0_: no worries. We were just wondering what new tasks we could take up 17:38:26 * dhanesh95 can't think of any new ideas at the moment. 17:38:31 Maybe the mentoring bit 17:38:53 Should we all go through the tickets and see what comments have been dropped on them to begin with? 17:39:04 That'll give us the context, and an idea of what we're trying to do 17:39:05 People trying to be a part of Fedora, what is it that they find difficult while onboarding? 17:39:38 dhanesh95: loads of things, as commops found out: mentoring would help them become part of the social side of the community quicker 17:39:44 or so I think 17:40:07 FranciscoD: Do we have metrics around that? Is there a way we can get that data? 17:40:19 I doubt we have any metrics 17:40:37 about new folks at all. All we may be able to get is data from FAS accounts 17:41:36 So what can we do to identify the common issues faced by all the aspiring contributors? 17:42:29 FranciscoD: About going through the tickets, apart from Mentoring all the other tickets are being worked on. So IMO we won't get anything there. 17:42:41 Currently, it's all speculation based. Commops worked on improving onboarding, how did they go about streamlining things? 17:42:58 dhanesh95: yeh, I meant the mentoring tickets. There was a bit of discussion there iirc 17:44:12 FranciscoD: I vaguely remember some activities of CommOps to improve onboarding. Much of it was directed towards improving the onboarding process for various teams. 17:44:36 I remember I had helped the Python SIG improve their process. 17:44:47 Yeh, what was that based on? 17:45:28 But all of the effort was focused on internal teams. So I believe it was more inclined towards people who had already joined the project and were looking for a change. 17:46:23 Hrm, right 17:46:42 A survey system would be good. That'll help us get data to look at 17:46:57 With Join, we need to pull in people who have absolutely no idea about the project and how it functions. 17:46:58 Maybe we should work on the limesurvey ticket? sadin's quite busy 17:47:44 dhanesh95: so, the idea of the mentoring bit was someting like this: 17:47:52 - we maintain a pool of mentors from different teams 17:48:07 FranciscoD: Even with limesurvey, we need new people. How do we reach out to people who are trying to join? 17:48:13 - a new person with no idea about Fedora says "hi, i want to join" 17:48:38 - after some chat to see what the newbie's interests are, a mentor would take them under their wing 17:49:33 dhanesh95: we could find a way to dip into the pool of users that aren't contributors 17:50:09 reaching out to folks who know nothing about Fedora is very hard (if not impossible---they dont know Fedora exists, so we can't get them to join) 17:51:23 dhanesh95: bt0_ : we're running out of time today. Let's think about it and discuss it again next time 17:51:38 FranciscoD: IMO, we should focus on mentoring and get that done well. That'll build a good foundation for us to onboard new contributors with a bit of ease. 17:51:48 ok 17:51:53 FranciscoD: +1 17:52:13 dhanesh95: ok, that's a start yeh - let's go through the tickets, and should we discuss it over the ML and then file tickets for whatever action items we come up with? 17:52:24 FranciscoD: +1 17:52:40 #action FranciscoD start discussion around mentoring on the ML 17:52:45 #action FranciscoD send out logs 17:52:45 +1 17:53:04 OK. Let's close the meeting then 17:53:13 Counting down to close: 17:53:16 10 17:53:31 FranciscoD: Next meeting, I'd like to chair. :P 17:53:58 #action dhanesh95 chair next meeting 17:54:00 Lovely :D 17:54:14 * dhanesh95 is excited. :D 17:54:46 :D 17:54:48 8 17:54:51 5 17:54:53 pie 17:54:56 2 17:54:58 uno 17:54:59 #endmeeting
