20:59:47 <nirik> #startmeeting EPEL SIG 20:59:47 <zodbot> Meeting started Fri Jan 8 20:59:47 2010 UTC. The chair is nirik. Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.debian.org/MeetBot. 20:59:47 <zodbot> Useful Commands: #action #agreed #halp #info #idea #link #topic. 20:59:54 <nirik> #meetingname epel 20:59:54 <zodbot> The meeting name has been set to 'epel' 20:59:58 <nirik> #topic Init Process 21:00:27 <nirik> who all, if anyone is around for an EPEL meeting? 21:00:47 * vpv is here 21:01:57 <nirik> hey vpv. 21:02:38 <vpv> hi nirik. I came here to see if anyone had anything to say on the moin situation, but if no one else is here, well... 21:02:54 <nirik> yeah. ;( Lets wait around a few and see if folks roll in. 21:03:03 * dhillon-v10 is here (but a new member though to Fedora project) 21:03:13 <nirik> I understand you orphaning it... have you had any interest from anyone in taking it over? 21:03:24 <vpv> not yet 21:03:35 <stahnma> oh hi 21:04:15 <nirik> welcome dhillon-v10. ;) 21:04:19 <nirik> hey stahnma 21:04:30 <dhillon-v10> nirik, thanks :) 21:05:26 <vpv> as someone said on the mailing list, these web apps are kind of difficult to have in epel if people are mostly volunteers. lots of security issues/backporting (comparatively speaking) etc. 21:05:59 <stahnma> totally agreed 21:06:34 <nirik> yep. ;( 21:06:57 <nirik> vpv: so are their outstanding security issues on the moin version in epel now that can't be backported? 21:07:09 * nirik had a short agenda today, I guess we could just run thru it real quick. 21:07:49 <vpv> nirik: I'm not sure, but in any case the backports would be quite a lot of work 21:08:21 <nirik> well, thats one loophole we have in our current policy... 21:08:39 <nirik> if there are security issues, and it can't be backported, that gives you the ok to update it in an incompatible way. 21:09:20 <nirik> #topic Moin 21:10:29 <nirik> thats currently the only reason we would allow an incompatible upgrade. 21:10:51 <nirik> which kinda blows for packages that just are old and suck, but don't have security issues. 21:11:43 <vpv> I think the current policy is fine, I'm more afraid on the data conversion stuff. The scripts were apparently broken during the time the Infrastructure people tried 1.5 -> 1.6 and I have no idea if the situation has improved. I also have no way of testing them, really. 21:12:10 * nirik notes he does have some test machines... https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Machine_Resources_For_Package_Maintainers 21:13:19 <nirik> anyhow, hopefully someone loves moin and steps up to give it some love. 21:13:53 <vpv> We'd need to have a large-ish set of 1.5 page data, that's the main issue with testing for me. 21:14:19 <nirik> I think the fedora old one is still around... not sure what version it is tho. 21:14:42 <nirik> https://fedoraproject.org/wikiold 21:16:35 <vpv> It might well be 1.5, but I don't currently feel that motivated to work on the epel moin package. We'll see if anyone else is interested. 21:16:57 * nirik nods. 21:17:14 <nirik> #topic Plans for upcoming meetings 21:17:38 <nirik> So, meetings have been sparsely attended... should we move times? stop holding them? use the time for something else? 21:18:58 <nirik> of course no one is really here, so I guess I should take that to the list. ;) 21:19:51 <vpv> Here in Finland / EET it's 23 / 11PM on Friday, that might be one reason for some Europeans not to attend... 21:19:54 <nirik> #topic Open Floor 21:20:08 <nirik> vpv: yeah. ;( Another meeting time might work better. 21:21:19 <nirik> anyone have anything for open floor? 21:25:12 * nirik guesses not. 21:25:24 * nirik will keep the meeting open a few more, then close it out. 21:27:46 <nirik> ok, thanks for coming those few of you who did. ;) 21:27:55 <nirik> #endmeeting
