18:02:48 <smooge> hi guys most people are at conferences today so I expect a short meeting
18:02:53 <smooge> #topic New folks introductions and Apprentice tasks.
18:03:05 <smooge> Any new apprentices
18:03:11 * pingou
18:03:23 <pingou> no rollcall ? :)
18:03:58 <smooge> I did roll call
18:04:16 <danofsatx-work> roll call was at 13:01 - you missed it, so you're officially not here
18:04:18 <danofsatx-work> ;)
18:04:18 <smooge> you missed it. put 10 cents in the late jar :)
18:04:20 <pingou> sorry, I missed it :)
18:04:32 * pingou goes sell his laptop for 10 cents
18:04:50 <smooge> I want real copper pennies too. not those zinc things which aren't worth anything
18:04:54 * webpigeon waves and applogies for lateness
18:05:01 <danofsatx-work> I guess that was either 1801 or 1901UTC.....
18:05:02 <smooge> hi webpigeon
18:05:06 <webpigeon> o/
18:05:30 <smooge> are there any apprentice items that people are looking at?
18:05:42 <smooge> danofsatx-work, thanks for looking into the disk storage of logs
18:06:02 <webpigeon> I've not got any assigned to me at the moment, but i'm planning on looking at the easyfix list again tonight :)
18:06:06 <danofsatx-work> np, I haven't checked the tickets this week, been busy @real job
18:06:31 <smooge> thanks webpigeon
18:06:41 <docent> i got something; still working on it; nothing that really makes any big difference ;)
18:06:54 <danofsatx-work> and I haven't actually started compressing the logs...was that up to me, or were you or nirik going to handle that part?
18:06:55 <docent> => not worth mentioning
18:07:08 <smooge> I will be doing a recompress of various files to try and save some space and hopefully we will get a larger disk store for the old stuff
18:07:28 <pingou> if there is someone a little more into web-dev, I tagged some tickets as easyfix for fedocal
18:07:45 <docent> python-web-dev?
18:07:50 <pingou> yes
18:07:57 <docent> ok will take a look later :)
18:07:58 <pingou> (nuancier also has one)
18:08:06 <smooge> danofsatx-work, it was up to me.. the logs should be protected to sysadmin-main for recompression and such
18:08:24 <danofsatx-work> understood
18:08:33 <smooge> danofsatx-work, as in you tell me what to run, I check it, and run it
18:08:48 <smooge> so you will still be doing it and I am just a lame sudo
18:09:15 <smooge> docent well every little bit counts.
18:09:30 <docent> smooge: im looking currently on fedocal github repo
18:09:39 <smooge> I will be on vacation next week and I am hoping to have some time away from computers to write up what our documentation needs are :()
18:10:05 <smooge> docent, cool. pingou always likes some help
18:10:12 * pingou agrees
18:10:18 <smooge> any other apprentices?
18:11:49 <webpigeon> pingou: where are the web dev easyfix tickets?
18:12:17 <pingou> webpigeon: all the easyfix are listed at http://fedoraproject.org/easyfix/
18:12:23 <docent> right, same question. didnt saw those here https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-infrastructure/report/14
18:13:08 <webpigeon> cool, was looking in the fedora-infrastructure trac
18:13:40 <pingou> :)
18:13:49 * oddshocks is here
18:13:53 * oddshocks was distracted by PyCon ;)
18:14:24 <pingou> check for kookie?
18:14:28 <smooge> ok I am going to the next topic?
18:14:29 <oddshocks> lol
18:14:33 <smooge> #topic Applications status / discussion
18:14:42 * pingou has been on a release spree
18:14:48 <pingou> #info new nuancier in stg and prod
18:14:54 <pingou> #info new pkgdb2 in stg
18:15:02 <mirek-hm> #info new copr in prod
18:15:03 <smooge> so pingou I think you are the sole app guy today. you will be covering for threebean abadger and lmacken and ..
18:15:21 <mirek-hm> which unfortunatelly somehow broke fedmsg :(
18:15:21 <smooge> oh and mirek-hm .. sorry
18:15:28 <pingou> #infos elections2 pushed to stg and prod (special thanks to fchiulli that did most of the heavy lifting and threebean that helped reviewing the last bits)
18:15:49 <smooge> mirek-hm, if you use esperanto next time in the messages maybe it will work better?
18:16:43 <pingou> other than that most of the team is at pycon, either from today or from a couple of days ago
18:16:55 <pingou> and the one left are completely jealous :)
18:16:59 <pingou> ones*
18:17:46 * pingou eof
18:17:54 <smooge> its ok.. I hear it sucks, the food is bad, and you are the only one who speaks the language
18:18:06 <smooge> and they don't even speak french correctly :)
18:18:27 <smooge> mirek-hm, anything else on coprs ?
18:19:02 <pingou> smooge: thanks mate :)
18:19:28 <mirek-hm> mirek-hm: nope, our team released this week softwarecollections.org but that is outside of Fedora
18:19:44 * mirek-hm talks to himself
18:19:48 <pingou> ^^
18:19:49 <smooge> well actually that sounds like something that might deal with fedora
18:20:01 <smooge> infrastructure that is
18:20:46 <smooge> mirek-hm, eg anything in it that might affect our build systems etc as needed?
18:21:10 <smooge> mirek-hm, any software release is hard work and congrats.
18:21:30 <pingou> mirek-hm: looks nice! congrats :)
18:21:51 <smooge> ok time for next topic
18:22:21 <smooge> #topic Sysadmin status / discussion
18:22:53 <smooge> OK I am in the process of getting more hardware installed.
18:22:58 <danofsatx-work> yay!
18:23:05 <danofsatx-work> MOAR POWER!
18:23:13 <smooge> I ran out of IP addresses for the machines after I put in their mgmt interfaces
18:23:14 <mirek-hm> we had issue with f. cloud at begging of this week (it does not give IP) we worked with nirik on that and suddenly fixed itself. somehow. I still could not run as much builders I would want but it runs... this somehow raised priority for me to reinstall that Fedora Cloud to new version.
18:23:52 <smooge> mirek-hm, we have new hardware in place finally. it will be a matter of installing it and getting it provisioned now
18:24:41 <smooge> so I expect new version will be within our lifetime
18:24:44 <mirek-hm> can you specify those hardware? more details please :)
18:24:58 <smooge> 3 Dell r520's
18:25:22 <smooge> they will be configured as the new cloud and then the old cloud boxes will be rebuilt to meet it
18:25:40 <smooge> We are working on quotes for storage and such.
18:26:12 <smooge> that will be here hopefully by beginning of June.
18:26:19 <mirek-hm> nice
18:27:05 <smooge> Most of the week has been dealing with heartbleed.
18:27:23 <pingou> but you're getting a badge for it
18:27:49 <smooge> Kevin and Dennis (and lots of others) put a lot of effort into getting it working and then making sure it worked
18:28:19 <pingou> kudos!
18:29:20 <smooge> We are still working on what we will do next. Reissueing certs and such is an expensive item. A major change all your passwords is even more expensive
18:30:11 <pingou> but if we want to change our password it's a good time to do it
18:30:17 <pingou> we have the proper argument
18:30:32 <smooge> pingou, well it is a good time when we are sure its not going to be leaked 5 minutes in the future
18:30:56 <smooge> I would like to take a couple of weeks as people actually audit openssl and find any other 'wat?' bits in it
18:31:00 <pingou> smooge: sounds like as good as any then :)
18:31:13 <pingou> but wfm to wait a little more
18:31:43 <smooge> plus I fell on the sword last time for making everyone change their passwords. I need to find someone new
18:31:52 <smooge> anyway..
18:32:01 <smooge> #topic Upcoming Tasks/Items
18:32:10 <smooge> #info Flock Talks can be voted on
18:32:24 <pingou> until May 1st
18:32:33 <smooge> yep.. remember to vote for the talks you want told.. even if you aren't going.
18:32:59 * mirek-hm is voting right now, but the range 1..128 is little bit detailed :)
18:33:09 <smooge> OH GOD they went ranged again...
18:33:21 <smooge> I cry for you all
18:33:34 <pingou> we have the choice now
18:33:36 <pingou> range or simple
18:33:47 <pingou> but I guess we need a simplified range
18:33:50 <pingou> or so
18:33:52 <smooge> which is why I wonder why they went with range
18:34:04 <smooge> pingou, we need concordanant to keep up with the Debs
18:34:13 <mirek-hm> it seems more choices is better for somebody :)
18:34:27 <pingou> I said to nirik to use range
18:34:36 <pingou> so blame is on me :-p
18:34:43 <smooge> anyway I think there are a lot of good talks and they should hopefully all be videod for later viewing
18:34:52 <smooge> pingou, you are a bad bad man
18:35:12 * pingou goes seel his soul for another 10 cents
18:35:17 <pingou> sell*
18:35:26 * pingou tries to find a free keyboard
18:35:38 <smooge> #info Upcoming FAD
18:35:48 <smooge> I do not know much about this or where its state is.
18:36:00 <smooge> and I think everyone who does is not here.
18:36:05 <pingou> afaik, the tickets have been bought
18:36:14 <pingou> and they were looking into the housing question
18:36:20 <pingou> but maybe they solved it as well by now
18:36:48 <smooge> so lets just say "People are going to Denver. They will have a bacchanal at least one night. Roman robes are required."
18:37:11 <smooge> people can correct me later
18:37:25 <pingou> with an #info?
18:37:43 <smooge> #info "People are going to Denver. They will have a bacchanal at least one night. Roman robes are required."
18:37:46 <smooge> ok done
18:37:50 <pingou> otherwise it might be missed in the logs :D
18:37:50 <smooge> #topic Open Floor
18:38:18 <smooge> So what wasn't on the agenda that people want to talk about that is infrastructure related?
18:38:36 <docent> hmm
18:39:04 <docent> one thing - are there any details on moving from github to gitlab? any project webpage or something?
18:39:24 * pingou didn't know that was a plan
18:39:46 <pingou> docent: afaik packaging is still an issue before anything can be done
18:39:49 <docent> it was mentioned during gitlab meeting; one project was about gitlab rpms, second one about moving
18:39:53 <docent> sure
18:40:05 <oddshocks> Hope to see some of you folks here in Montreal this week :)
18:40:19 <pingou> oddshocks: the ones here are the ones not going ;-)
18:40:29 <danofsatx-work> I have an item I'd like to share....first the preface. I work in a dev shop, wherein the development network is a Windows AD domain.
18:40:45 <pingou> danofsatx-work: I'd be curious about that second part :)\
18:40:55 <pingou> sorry that was for docent
18:40:59 <danofsatx-work> My devs use windows solely to launch VMware workstation and run CentOS and/or Suse for the development work.
18:41:04 <oddshocks> pingou: ahh bummer. I figure there must be a few on planes now :)
18:41:10 <smooge> docent, there is a lot of ifs before a plan could be done
18:41:21 <pingou> danofsatx-work: indeed
18:41:32 <pingou> danofsatx-work: that sounds handy
18:41:34 <danofsatx-work> So, we're moving away from AD finally, and using that as justification to send me to RHCE training at RDU in June.
18:41:41 <pingou> oddshocks: indeed
18:41:48 <smooge> docent, it needs to be packaged up, it needs to be installed and tested seen how it works or not for the people using it.
18:42:00 <pingou> smooge: and people maintaining it :)
18:42:10 <danofsatx-work> I'm finally going to get certified, and be running a Fedora workstation network with CentOS servers in the back.
18:42:11 <smooge> pingou, and people maintaining it
18:42:20 <pingou> danofsatx-work: awesome!
18:42:54 * danofsatx-work hates AD
18:44:19 <smooge> docent, we have had a history of good ideas put in place without sufficient people doing the other parts of keeping it going. So I try to make sure a bunch of "we will really really really keep this going" is in place so I don't have to be the guy who kills projects that no one uses but everyone liked knowing we had anyway :)
18:45:27 <smooge> docent, so I would work with the guys who were in that meeting on how to keep momentum going
18:46:02 <smooge> danofsatx-work, good job. I hope the training goes well.
18:46:21 <danofsatx-work> should be a breeze ;)
18:46:21 <smooge> ok anything else? If not I will close in 60 seconds
18:48:20 <smooge> #endmeeting Thanks for all the fish.
