15:12:49 <rdieter> hi
15:12:53 <rdieter> ok, let's get started
15:12:59 <rdieter> #topic recent bodhi updates
15:12:59 <Kevin_Kofler> I can give a status update on QtWebEngine 5.8.0 (but it will be short).
15:13:05 <rdieter> Kevin_Kofler: ok
15:13:33 <rdieter> so kf5-5.31.0/plasma-5.8.6/kde-apps-16.12.2 rollout to f25 went pretty well I think
15:13:52 <rdieter> f24 was a little bumpy :-/
15:14:07 * pino|work confirms no issues so far on f25
15:14:11 <rdieter> I'd queue'd kf5-5.31 , plasma-5.8.6 late last week for f24 stable updates
15:14:31 <rdieter> but plasma-5.8.6 ended up getting rejected due to some bodhi bug/inconsistency
15:15:01 <rdieter> it eventually got fixed and pushed out yesterday, but anyone updating in between got a broken plasmashell :(
15:16:13 <rdieter> in addition, f24's gpgme/kdepim-16.12.2 update missed 2 packages: kdepim4 kdepim(metapackage), both of which could hold back a successful upgrade, these 2 have been built and queue'd for updates-testing now
15:16:18 <jreznik> can we try to write a short how to for users how to update to the correct version from shell via dnf? and send it to fedora-kde list and internetz?
15:16:55 <jreznik> for us, it's easy fix but for regular users this could be pretty difficult to get it fixed if they got stuck with blank screen
15:16:55 <rdieter> jreznik: as far as plasma is concerned, only a usual update (to plasma-5.8.6) is required 'dnf update'
15:17:26 <rdieter> but I can see how that could be intimidating or anyone who's not used dnf by hand before
15:17:31 <jreznik> rdieter: yes but you have to know how to do it (I guess not everyone knows how to run dnf update from command line)
15:17:34 <rdieter> s/or/for/
15:17:45 <jreznik> just a short how to
15:18:07 <rdieter> good idea, anyone able/willing to do that ?
15:19:27 <jreznik> I'll do it but I'm travelling today/tomorrow, so my availability will be limited :(
15:19:29 <tosky> oh, about F25, I had to create two symlinks, or kwin did not start
15:19:40 <tosky> but I could not try on a fresh user, I was in a rush
15:19:53 <rdieter> tosky: that's... interesting, what links to you make?
15:20:15 <tosky> under /usr/share/kservicetypes5/
15:20:24 <tosky> ln -s kwineffect.desktop kwin-effect.desktop
15:20:28 <tosky> ln -s kwinscript.desktop kwin-script.desktop
15:20:37 <tosky> kwin complained that the files were missing
15:20:41 <tosky> maybe something in the cache
15:20:56 <rdieter> tosky: using kwin-5.8 or kwin-5.9 ?
15:21:00 <tosky> 5.8
15:21:08 <tosky> this is F25, update to 5.8.6/5.31
15:21:12 <rdieter> that's an interesting wtf
15:21:12 <tosky> this did not happen in a less used VM that I upgraded for test
15:21:33 <tosky> it seems no one else hit this, of all possible issues, so definitely less priority
15:21:46 <tosky> and I should take some time to try again (there were some pending reboots too)
15:21:57 <tosky> I mean, reboot of the entire system iirc
15:22:05 <tosky> just in case someone complains about this
15:22:12 <rdieter> ok, thanks. noted
15:22:36 <rdieter> personally, I used plasma-5.8.6 only a short time before jumping on the 5.9.3 train
15:23:38 <Kevin_Kofler> 5.8.6 just works here.
15:23:49 <Kevin_Kofler> F25 with stable updates, on a desktop and a notebook.
15:23:59 <rdieter> anyway, as it stands wrt updates, kf5-5.31, plasma-5.8.6, and kde-apps-16.12.2 are in f25/f24 stable updates. kf5-5.31 for epel7 is still in -testing
15:24:22 <Kevin_Kofler> I haven't tried 5.9 yet, as it's still not in updates.
15:24:30 <rdieter> I started work on kf5-5.32.0 yesterday, and kde-apps-16.12.3 became available to packagers today
15:24:49 <tosky> a note about Frameworks 5.32, I send an email to kde-distro-packagers: kdoctools finally provides a proper shared library
15:25:06 <tosky> it should not be a problem for most people (I suspect I broke crosscompilation but no one complained so far)
15:25:06 <rdieter> right, as far as plasma-5.9 goes, it's only available in copr, one place: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/g/kdesig/plasma-5-unstable/
15:26:32 <rdieter> mkyral has a copr too (there should only be minor differences)
15:27:12 * jreznik_ has to leave now
15:27:44 <rdieter> anything else on recent updates?
15:28:47 <rdieter> #topic QtWebEngine 5.8
15:28:53 <rdieter> Kevin_Kofler: ok, yours
15:29:25 <Kevin_Kofler> OK
15:29:37 <Kevin_Kofler> So I got QtWebEngine 5.8 to build in my Copr.
15:30:00 <Kevin_Kofler> Patches and FFmpeg cleanup scripts rebased, GCC 7 FTBFS fixed, bundled library versions updated.
15:30:20 <rdieter> \o/ yay
15:30:30 <Kevin_Kofler> (What I haven't done yet is scan the build.log for new or newly-enabled bundled libraries, at least the Chromium hunspell fork is now enabled, maybe more stuff.)
15:30:51 <Kevin_Kofler> lupinix submitted a build to the @kdesig/qt-5.8 Copr, it should be done in an hour or so.
15:31:00 <Kevin_Kofler> (It's been running for 4 hours, needs ~5 hours.)
15:31:03 <lupinix> hi
15:31:17 <rdieter> #info lupinix present
15:31:18 <rdieter> hi
15:31:20 <lupinix> sorry, forgot meeting time
15:31:28 <rdieter> #chair lupinix
15:31:28 <zodbot> Current chairs: Kevin_Kofler jgrulich jreznik lupinix pino|work rdieter than tosky
15:31:52 <rdieter> so, does that mean we're ready/close to import Qt 5.8 into rawhide ?
15:32:02 <Kevin_Kofler> What I would like to look into is to patch the code to use the system hunspell dictionaries and if possible also the system hunspell library, but it is non-trivial, Google patched it heavily to support their nonstandard dictionary format. :-(
15:32:25 <Kevin_Kofler> But I don't think that should be a blocker. 5.7 had no spellchecking at all, with any dictionary format.
15:32:38 <rdieter> Kevin_Kofler: yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about that, unless you have copious amounts of free time
15:32:58 <Kevin_Kofler> And as I said, trying to fix it is not trivial and I'm not sure when (or even if) I'll get around to it.
15:34:12 <rdieter> Kevin_Kofler: thanks for working on that
15:35:05 <Kevin_Kofler> And changing the dictionary stuff might also need adjustments in client apps such as QupZilla, because I have seen code out there poking around in the QtWebEngine dictionary directories to enumerate the available dictionaries (ewww!).
15:35:05 <rdieter> is that all? move on?
15:36:32 <rdieter> #topic open discussion
15:37:06 <rdieter> I guess now that we have plasma-5.9 copr, and some initial good feedback... thoughts on bringing plasma-5.9.x to f25 ?
15:37:47 <jgrulich> +1 for Plasma 5.9.x in f25
15:37:51 <lupinix> +1
15:38:13 <lupinix> works fine here on 4 machines, two with multi screen setup
15:40:40 <tosky> yeah, probably worth the change, F25 is still fairly new
15:41:58 <rdieter> ok, i've got kf5-5.32 and kde-apps-16.12.3 to do first, then I can do that next. anyone who wants to work on it earlier, is free to do so :)
15:43:46 <rdieter> woo, I'll probably jinx it, but f25/f24/epel kf5-5.32.0 chain-builds are grinding away without error so far
15:43:59 <Kevin_Kofler> For Qt 5.8, please let me know when you import it into Rawhide so that I can take care of qt5-qtwebengine-freeworld in RPM Fusion.
15:44:23 <rdieter> Kevin_Kofler: I doubt rpmfusion will have branched for f26 yet anyway
15:44:29 <rdieter> in our case, rawhide = f27
15:46:39 <rdieter> anything else to discuss today?
15:47:17 <tosky> not from my side
15:49:29 <rdieter> ok, thanks everyone!
