10:57:24 * rrix trying to pull up list of starter Q's one moment..
10:58:16 <rrix> Okay
10:58:41 <rrix> Please remember the townhall guidelines, folks... ! if you would like to interject, otherwise, let the other candidates talk
10:59:10 <rrix> Question: What do each of our candidates think the biggest challenges are in growing the Ambassador program? How youd you tackle them?
10:59:38 <rrix> would, sorry :
11:02:05 <marcus> !
11:02:24 <rrix> and, we have a winner. marcus, go ahead
11:03:03 <marcus> We have already a large base of users/contributors. one of the challanges is to extend this basement and to get the ones that are already active to promote fedora
11:03:53 <marcus> if they are happy with joining fedora staff at events or hand out medias and promo material, the logical consequence is to join the ambassadors group
11:03:55 <marcus> eof
11:05:54 <yn1v> !
11:06:08 <rrix> yn1v: go for it!
11:06:56 <yn1v> I think the challenge is to keep up with the grow... is a organizational challenge.
11:07:26 <yn1v> We keep growing at a fast pace and we need to keep everithing working.
11:07:29 <yn1v> eof
11:08:58 <kaio> The size of ambassador group. The main challenges I think are passing information to every ambassador and ensure they all understand, know how to provide feedbacks and do feedback. Dispite of relatively loose organisation structure in FAm for ambassadors taking more responsibilities, it may be appropriate for us to rethink a better use on leadership of mentors as back up, when there are lack of active members in a region.
11:08:59 <kaio> rof
11:09:17 <kaio> eof
11:11:50 <rrix> And, we're going to move on since a few of our candidates are pressed for time. The other candidates' answers are available in the previous townhall's logs.

11:12:20 <rrix> I'm going to go ahead and dump a few questions here, candidates can answer them all when they ! at me
11:12:30 <rrix> 1. What is the first thing you are going to change if you are elected?
11:12:50 <rrix> 2. Should we be willing to expand our idea of contributors to *testers* and get more contributors that way? (let's talk about ambassadors here)
11:13:06 <rrix> 3. We have seen a drop in FAmSCo activity after first few months...what will you do, as a team, not to repeat that?
11:13:08 <rrix> eof
11:13:21 <marcus> !
11:13:43 <zoltanh7211> !
11:13:46 <kaio> !
11:14:16 <rrix> ok, you guys can answer in order you !'d ... go ahead and answer all three before mvoing on to the next person
11:14:23 <rrix> marcus
11:14:56 <marcus> 1. I would like to change the way elections are done :) wiki based questionnaire with a public / private section would be an option. i would create a questionnaire where everyone could add questions until a specific date, then a subsection where everyone could create a private page with his/her answers. these could than be merged into one after the answering phase is finished.
11:16:44 <marcus> 2. we should try to get more contributors by directly inviting them to join us. this could mean ppl who are already active in other areas of fedora and new contributors. testers is just another wording and won't solve the 'problem' imho.
11:17:41 <marcus> 3. i think the activity will automatically raise as it will be a really fresh team. I am really looking forward to work together with the other candidates if i am elected.
11:17:42 <marcus> eof
11:17:54 <rrix> and, zoltanh7211?
11:17:56 <zoltanh7211> 1. I would like to change the communications, and the processes - blockades between. We need an consensus, smooth way and it seems that will be our first task before we step further.
11:20:14 <zoltanh7211> 2. We should expand our people by showing that they are also capable to do tests, and QA. That will show up more capability - and step-in learning curve, and not only for one group. This could an benefit for all of us.
11:21:44 <zoltanh7211> 3. The activity drop lies in loosing the interest, and maybe in burnout - and fighting. That must be prevented. We are fedorians - and we have to work together.
11:22:14 <zoltanh7211> If I will be elected, that is one of the priority.
11:22:17 <zoltanh7211> eof
11:22:55 <kaio> 1. Break the language barriers of ambassadors! For example, most of the countries in APAC are not using English as their first language, where emphasising the need of organisational documents (mostly written in English on FP wiki) in corresponding native languages of ambassadors would be the catalyst of growing the ambassadors program. i.e. Get them translated. As marcus said, linking up with current unknown users/contributors is also important.
11:25:08 <kaio> 2. I would rephrase that into "Upgrade the ambassadors to superambassadors." - multi-functional ambassadors who specialize also in something they prefer: Development, Design, Documentation, Infrastructure, Testing, Marketing, Release, etc. I expect superambassadors are keen to share their knowledge and experiences via presentations and discussions in meet-ups.
11:28:14 <kaio> 3. An equilibrium of voices between regions and transparency of procedures are the most important things. Conflicts from inconsistent standards damage the whole ambassador group. When conflicts happen, isolate them and move on to on-going agreed plans. Then, work together to resolve the conflicts at the same time.
11:28:17 <kaio> eof
11:28:21 <yn1v> !
11:28:32 <rrix> yn1v: go for it
11:28:34 <yn1v> 1.- Work actively to include a another fundation: FUN ;) After that to improve process to allocate resources to ambassadors in remote areas. And there is an agreement to work on improvements to run elections, I commited to that too.
11:28:46 <yn1v> 2.- We can challenge students to come to a computer lab to run a test day. As ambassadors team we can facilitate this kind of activities.
11:29:02 <yn1v> 3.- We need to keep focus on topics and tasks. It is importat to make confrontation (if arised) a constructive force, not disruptive. We need people commitment to produce results for running FAmSCo. Reviewing what was not that good at last year may be a good starting point.
11:29:06 <yn1v> eof
11:30:38 <rrix> At this point, i would welcome community interaction in #fedora-townhall-public, but it appears that this isn't the hour for that...
11:31:02 <rrix> Anyone with any questions please speak up, I'm hardly qualified to ask them myself ;)
11:31:37 <rrix> If there are no questions in -public, I think we should close out, as the meeting may have flown over some of the candidates' time
11:33:57 * rrix will hold the floor open until 4:40 for questions (current time is 4:33)
11:35:59 <rrix> Okay, a question from rdieter, sitting Fedora Board member:
11:36:12 <rrix> What barriers/policy/bureaucracy would you like see changed or fixed that would best improve the mission of ambassadors? (purely self-serving followup, in that spirit...) anything the board (or other fedora groups) could do to help facilitate that?)
11:36:26 <rrix> candidates?
11:38:06 <yn1v> !
11:38:12 <rrix> yn1v: go for it
11:38:21 <yn1v> The great blocker for my work as ambassador has been resourse allocation, as I am in a remote area. I feel I am not the only one facing this issue. I want to work on that. That's why I am applying for FAmSCo.
11:38:28 <yn1v> eof
11:38:50 <kaio> !
11:38:56 <rrix> kaio: go for it
11:41:25 <kaio> I think given that we are under the sponsorship from Red Hat, we as non-RH contributors should raise same intensity of voice even in Broad. There had been discussions whether the RH's ratio of "give and take" is fair or not.
11:41:31 <kaio> eof
11:42:01 <zoltanh7211> !
11:42:21 <rrix> zoltanh7211: go for it
11:45:35 <zoltanh7211> I think the hardest is how to control resources, in other regions than USA. This affecting to all of the community. If Red Hat sponsoring us, why isn't be possible to transfer rights to red hat partners in contact with us? I would like too work on this too.
11:45:39 <zoltanh7211> eof
11:47:27 <rrix> it looks like our present candidates have all responded
11:47:42 <rrix> Are there any more questions for the town?
11:49:25 * rrix will hold open until the top of the hour
11:49:43 <rrix> A huge thank you to the candidates for staying around an extra hour
11:55:18 <rrix> hmm
11:55:29 <rrix> I'm going to go ahead and call it a day folks.
11:55:45 <yn1v> okey
11:55:46 <rrix> Thanks to everyone who showed up for today's Townhall! Best of luck in your elections!
