15:07:00
y'all have some stuff to talk about for coreos?

I see some small progress glancing at recent discussions
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:10:42
after f44, we've cut over f43, but still figuring out signing
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:10:42
looks like i joined just in time :)
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
15:11:05
!hi
<@zodbot:fedora.im>
15:11:07
No Fedora Accounts users have the @jcapitao:matrix.org Matrix Account defined
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:11:24
the signing infrastructure is in the process of being rewritten to properly support sigstore, but we're trying to not block on that
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:11:58
there's also the konflux work of course, which signs things with... a key? but it's not clear how authoritative that key is currently
<@walters:fedora.im>
15:13:03
is there a link for the signing rewrite?
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:13:06
and we're still baking the konflux work
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:13:06
currently, i'm looking at just continuing to use robosignatory and the c/image support for gpg key verification
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
15:13:23
I think it's a key at Konflux cluster level i.e Fedora one, but I'm still unsure TBH
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:13:31
Colin Walters: not sure, but jcline is working on it. some details are on his blog: https://www.jcline.org/
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:14:09
actually yes, there's also https://github.com/fedora-infra/siguldry
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
15:14:35
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:16:05
the main hiccup with robosignatory currently is that it creates detached signatures but we need an inline signature for c/image. so likely will need to add another interface to robosignatory for it
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:17:08
on a positive note, both f44 and f43 now build and pass tests with the buildah path
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:17:15
on all arches
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
15:20:50
and what about https://gitlab.com/fedora/bootc/tracker/-/issues/48 ? is there blockers or prerequisites preventing us to start working on it ?
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
15:21:01
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
15:21:39
I'm asking because at some point we'd need it to be able to run tests in Konflux i.e with TestingFarm/tmt
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:22:58
jcapitao: shorter term, in theory shouldn't we be able to run kola tests (assuming the builders support KVM)?
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
15:25:15
well, that option was kind of discarded https://gitlab.com/fedora/infrastructure/konflux/infra-deployments/-/issues/19
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
15:26:00
still running tests on Jenkins would be shorter term I'd say
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:27:40
yeah, agree
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
15:28:29
for clarification, I can start working on https://gitlab.com/fedora/bootc/tracker/-/issues/48 but I'd need some direction :)
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:29:25
i think it might be good to get together with tmt maintainers
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:30:25
notably we really like the "external tests" interface in FCOS and if we can retain that API, that'd make it much easier to move tests
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:31:41
but i don't know tmt enough to know how exactly that would fit into their setup
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
15:31:53
I should try out running one ext test on tmt to see the tmt limitations for our usecase
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
15:32:39
yeah me neither
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:33:49
tests which don't need rebooting should be easier to start. the reboot API needs tighter coordination with the harness
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:34:21
(sorry, a lot of CoreOS talk... we should probably move on to another topic :) )
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
15:35:10
ah right, I remember you were mentionning that reboot API stuff
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
15:35:34
yup, we can move to next topic
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
15:35:47
I think I have my next step on that
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
15:36:09
it's all good :)
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
15:36:36
ok, I do have a topic, but does anyone else have some topics before I dive into mine?
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
15:39:24
I guess not 😂 Ok, I have to give a report up to Council sooo...
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
15:39:31
!topic Council update report
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
15:40:01
So i've been asked to give a short summary of where we are as an initiative and how we're doing. Is there anything folks want me to highlight?
<@jlebon:fedora.im>
15:41:45
I guess you can surface the CoreOS side of things. :)
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
15:42:32
I can!
<@walters:fedora.im>
15:44:04
Hmm...a big topic. I think we're doing OK overall, though a ton of work remains on aligning even just the Fedora derivative image based systems
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
15:44:28
Yeah, it's a big thing that I have to boil down
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
15:44:36
I think the big thing is folks are curious about how bootc fits into the march to Fedora 44
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
15:44:57
(hopefully so new contributors can be directed to help :) )
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
15:48:51
If you'd like to send me things privately, feel free to DM. Or, we can keep talking about this in the #bootc:fedoraproject.org room. I'll share the report when I get it together (should be a single page or a slide or two) with everyone.
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
15:48:59
meanwhile, in our last 10-15, open floor

<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
15:57:27
all right, last call for open floor? I'll close this down here if I don't see anyone typing :P
