We haven't discuss this topc after the last meeting.
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:12:15
No worries, then :) I'm pretty sure everyone's very busy at the moment. Just wanted to give some space in case you have!
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>

I'll jump to the next stuff, then
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:13:14
!topic CoreOS convergence (standing topic)
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:13:41
I haven't pulled this topic out for a bit. Any updates on the CoreOS side with getting all the fun stuff working with Konflux et al?
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:14:06
I know the go/no-go for 44 beta was last week (I missed it because travel)
<@dustymabe:matrix.org>
14:14:55
nimbinatus: upstream we don't have much news I don't think. FCOS is built via podman and based on the bootc base image definitions. konflux is still stalled waiting on the new cluster I think ( cc jcapitao )
<@dustymabe:matrix.org>
14:15:20
downstream, we do have news. RHCOS is now built like FCOS is (via podman, using the bootc base image definitions)
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
14:15:37
we are tracking the status here https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2439690
<@dustymabe:matrix.org>
14:16:37
hmm jcapitao but it's on our team to update the status there, right?
<@dustymabe:matrix.org>
14:17:15
hmm jcapitao but it's on our (CoreOS) team to update the status there, right?

<@zodbot:fedora.im>
14:17:28
Clement Verna (cverna) - he / him / his
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
14:17:29
yeah it's not directly related to bootc
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:17:57
I have a lot of messages in the hopper to read from the Konflux folks still :sheepish: But last I heard, we were talking about having both clusters standing so you could at least get a dev build working on the new one, and they were going to do a separate URL so it didn't break the prod build. Do I need to prod them for you to get that cluster at least into dev?
<@dustymabe:matrix.org>
14:18:10
jcapitao: do you know where we can track the new cluster progress? I was following one jira card but it got closed I think
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:18:15
... I used prod in two ways there. Sorry
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:18:29
... I used prod in two ways there. Sorry. prod 1 = production and prod 2 is the verb to poke
<@james:jharmison.dev>
14:19:18
Anyone have a link to the Jira issue against the English language on that one?
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
14:19:25
dustymabe: the main tracker is https://redhat.atlassian.net/browse/KONFLUX-11098

Colin Walters (walters)
<@dustymabe:matrix.org>
14:20:20
Thanks jcapitao !
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
14:21:33
nimbinatus: oh, I was expecting a transparent migration :/
<@james:jharmison.dev>
14:21:42
https://redhat.atlassian.net/browse/KFLUXINFRA-2786 seems to be sub-ticket with active work items occuring this week
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:21:57
transparent meaning seamless with the same URL?
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
14:22:35
yeah, like nothing to do on our side 😇
<@walters:fedora.im>
14:22:38
hey on the convergence: https://github.com/coreos/fedora-coreos-config/pull/3874#issuecomment-4075358177
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:23:36
The separate URL thing was a suggestion I had discussed with them a while ago when we wanted to have the new instance available for F44. We can still ask them not to do that if you all think it's okay (since we won't hit the change proposal deadlines... I think we agreed we were okay without hitting those, though)
<@jligon:matrix.org>
14:23:57
is there a easy to read Arch doc about how CoreOS will be built on Konflux? asking for an automotive friend
<@dustymabe:matrix.org>
14:24:28
Colin Walters: what are you trying to say with that comment? I'm not sure I fully grok it.
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
14:25:19
jligon: I'm working on it and will send you the URL once available
<@hricky:fedora.im>
14:26:36
Will it be publicly available?
<@walters:fedora.im>
14:26:58
dustymabe: i think sealed uki composefs fcos would be a good north star
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
14:27:45
nimbinatus: oh okay, TBH I'm okay with whatever is the easier for them
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
14:27:46
Hristo Marinov: yes of course :)
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:28:28
I'll get some clarity and make sure it's posted to those tickets
<@dustymabe:matrix.org>
14:28:58
Colin Walters: 👍️ as usual, I have questions :) - but might be better in a video format.
<@cverna_:matrix.org>
14:29:00
Colin Walters: I hope we can get there too, at least in the first step for the Trusted Execution Clusters Operator which uses FCOS upstream https://github.com/trusted-execution-clusters/operator
<@walters:fedora.im>
14:30:29
One annoying thing in this is that because of ignition.platform.id there's this "special sauce" in making disk images of fcos (not the only one, but one of the biggest) and I hit on this again looking at stuff here, hence my comment https://github.com/coreos/ignition/discussions/1997#discussioncomment-16161726
<@dustymabe:matrix.org>
14:32:10
I'm certainly open to changing (or augmenting) how things work
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:35:28
All right. More chat on this one, or are we good for now?
<@jligon:matrix.org>
14:38:21
Colin Walters: speaking of "special sauce for making disk images" Automotive has sealed uki working but I worry about how much our use cases differ for arm hardware, partitions, etc...
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:40:12
I think there's a lot of general chat we can have, clearly, so I'm just going to open the floor for more topics.
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:40:16
!topic open floor
<@jligon:matrix.org>
14:40:33
https://gitlab.com/fedora/bootc/base-images/-/merge_requests/377 still needs some help
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:41:21
I will note that SCaLE was busy for Fedora bootc-built things last week. There were a lot of talks that touched on FCOS, Fedora Atomic Desktops, Fedora Atomic Initiative, and Fedora-derived bootc-built artifacts and at all levels of learning :)
<@dustymabe:matrix.org>
14:43:42
Nice!
<@hricky:fedora.im>
14:46:11
Is Fedora Hatch at SCaLE be streamed online or recorded? Can you also share slides for the presentation?
<@hricky:fedora.im>
14:46:27
Is Fedora Hatch at SCaLE streamed online or recorded? Can you also share slides for the presentation?
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:47:05
Unfortunately, no :( The other talks related to bootc were, but I guess the colo wasn't recorded. Happy to share the slides, though! I could also record the demo I did, I think.
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:47:24
Will share in the general chat channel
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:50:50
On this one, is there someone who can help unblock? The general check is failing, but it's not clear to me why (the logs just have a general exit code)
<@jligon:matrix.org>
14:51:22
I too was confused
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
14:53:01
I'll review it
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
14:53:19
jligon: is it for automotive ?
<@zodbot:fedora.im>
14:53:30
nimbinatus has already given cookies to jcapitao during the F43 timeframe
<@jligon:matrix.org>
14:53:48
not at all, its for ELN
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
14:55:13
sorry I mean why now ? For EL11 readiness ?
<@jligon:matrix.org>
14:56:06
I want CentOS stream to be doing more bootc things natively, and sgallagher told me to start by getting ELN building there.
<@jligon:matrix.org>
14:57:44
the larger goal is for RHEL11 to be bootc by default, and possibly ship image mode and package mode via bootc
<@jligon:matrix.org>
14:57:59
thats a personal goal, not a red hat goal
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
14:58:21
alright, makes sense
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:59:07
(one-minute meeting end warning)
<@jcapitao:matrix.org>
14:59:14
IIRC EL11 will be branch off from F46, so not that far away
<@nimbinatus:matrix.org>
14:59:54
ok, folks, meeting end time :)
