Nishant Mishra (rico0098)
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:14:15
Hi Nishant!
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:14:31
coremodule: hello sir sorry for the delay
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:14:52
No problem, we've just moved on to Rawhide.
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:15:07
Looks reason for rawhide
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:15:19
Looks reasonable for rawhide
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:15:24
I haven't booted rawhide in a couple weeks, we're getting closer so I will boot today on hardware to make sure we don't have any glaring issues.
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:15:43
*has a query is rawhide stable enough for daily production use?
<@wcrobert:matrix.org>
15:15:47
Same and I'll do the same
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:16:02
I have a single laptop for home usage
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:16:42
Thanks Bill, let us know in-channel if you encounter anything.
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:16:51
Thanks Bill, let us know in-channel if you encounter anything negative.
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:16:58
I have been testing releases from RAWHIDE till Stable release since FC34 and took a hiatus and came back for FC41
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:17:26
is Rawhide stable enough for daily usage?
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:17:30
is my query
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:17:44
I want to install it
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:18:05
Nishant Mishra: do you mean F41 specifically or Rawhide in general?
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:18:15
Nishant Mishra: do you mean the latest F41 specifically or Rawhide in general?
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:18:22
F41 for now since it is the next release
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:18:47
Rawhide in general also piques my intrest just like we have OpenSUSE tumbleweed
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:19:01
Rawhide isn't very stable for most people, you'll definitely have some exciting mornings
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:19:12
Based off the automated testing, it looks OK, but we don't officially suggest users use Rawhide as a daily because you never know...
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:19:30
What he said, tactfully...
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:19:53
what about a specific release branch like F41 for now
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:20:10
I usually hold off until we're further along, but if you're brave and willing to deal with possible issues..
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:20:41
so what about the current state of FC41 rawhide?
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:21:04
same or I can go ahead and test it and report bugs?
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:22:15
Sure! That would be great!
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:22:22
definitely!
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:22:37
Nishant Mishra++
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:22:43
cool that is all from my end for this meeting
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:22:55
pwhalen: ++
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:22:55
thanks for joining and testing
<@zodbot:fedora.im>
15:22:56
rico0098 gave a cookie to pwhalen. They now have 69 cookies, 1 of which were obtained in the Fedora 40 release cycle
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:23:06
no issues
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:23:38
should it be a fresh install or we can transition fro FC40 stable to rawhide is my last query
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:23:55
and what about nvidia drivers on FC41 rawhide
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:24:30
Fresh install presents less issues than trying to upgrade from F40 to F41, but it's worth testing.
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:24:44
either is great, people upgrade or install new images.. bugs can be found
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:25:10
Since we're the ARM SIG, we don't really deal with nvidia drivers...
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:25:21
cool and any faster way to get the rawhide iso? the dl.fedoraproject.com is slow
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:25:25
ohh ok
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:25:28
ARM SIG
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:25:42
I am a AMD x86_64 user
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:25:48
i do not have arm device
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:26:05
wrong meeting i guess
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:26:06
No worries, testing overall is still appreciated.
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:26:21
any alternate download link for rawhide ?
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:26:32
many bugs are not arch specific
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:28:05
You can find the latest and older composes here:
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:28:06
download.fedoraproject.org/pub/ should resolve to a local mirror
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:28:07
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:30:10
Alright, do we need an open floor, or can we call it here?
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:30:54
Thanks all for the attendance. Good meeting.
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:31:04
media writer is also good for rawhide correct?
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:31:10
or thats only stable?
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:31:25
Nishant Mishra: yes, you can use media writer for your rawhide images.
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:31:45
like downloading or flashing?
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:32:04
*nishant has nothing else
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:32:18
how to do the commands like pwhalen did?
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:32:54
No, you'll have to download the rahwide image you want, select it as the iso you want to write, the destination you want to write it to, and then you can write the image.
<@rico0098:fedora.im>
15:33:12
cool thanks
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:33:14
Use '/username' to get that.
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:33:15
Anyway.
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:33:39
Thanks all! Nishant Mishra if you have more questions, the Fedora Quality or Fedora channels are good places to ask.
