15:01:28
Hello all, who is around today for an ARM meeting?
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:03:05
Hello! Let's jump in.
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:03:15
!topic 1) ==== Previous Release ====
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:03:19
!info Fedora-39-20240820.0

<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:03:32
Anything new regarding F39? I have nothing.
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:03:58
youtu
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:04:05
nothing here, no machines on f39
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:04:17
Me neither!
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:04:24
Alright, let's move on to F40 status.
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:04:33
!topic 2) ==== Current Release ====
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:04:37
!info Fedora-40-20240820.0
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:04:43
!link https://openqa.fedoraproject.org/tests/overview?distri=fedora&version=40&build=Fedora-Cloud-40-20240820.0&groupid=5
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:05:06
Latest testing of mine (not really testing, but daily use) shows no issues.
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:06:03
Cool. jforbes, it's your time to shine!
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:06:05
!topic 3) ==== Kernel Status ====
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:06:10
!info F40 kernel-6.10.6-200.fc40

<@jforbes:fedora.im>
15:06:34
Things are moving along with both 6.11-rc4, I should have final configs set this week
<@jforbes:fedora.im>
15:07:08
As it will be the release kernel for F41, that brings up some other bits, specifically, this blocker https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2283978
<@jforbes:fedora.im>
15:08:25
I don't see a fix on the horizon in the beta timeframe, so I think the solution there is to document it and tell people to turn off the autosuspend feature, which the kernel does not control
<@jforbes:fedora.im>
15:09:16
Otherwise, stable Fedora is on 6.10.5 with 6.10.6 in updates testing, and I am not aware of any major issues
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:11:17
Okay, thanks jforbes. I can look to document this on our commonbugs for F41 so that we can wait it and see if it makes it into this release at all.
<@jforbes:fedora.im>
15:11:43
coremodule: appreciate that
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:12:10
!topic 4) ==== Bootloader Status ====
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:12:14

<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:12:50
I haven't tested this new uboot, testing here would be appreciated.
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:14:11
I think I did, on a couple devices
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:14:38
Awesome, thanks pwhalen. Do you happen to know what changed with this most recent release?
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:14:43
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2024-9cd45f1576
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:15:01
Not sure about any changes, was just kicking tires
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:15:23
Cool. Works for me!
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:15:43
I'll try to test some others too, looks like I just did the Pi4
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:16:59
Awesome, thank you. I will do the same over here.
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:17:07
!topic 5) ==== Fedora 41 status ===
<@coremodule:fedora.im>

<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:18:14
What do we have for F41? Branch occurred a week ago.
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:19:58
yesterday looks pretty good in openqa
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:20:07
Agreed.
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:20:45
coremoduleany bigger issues being discussed for x86?
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:21:00
I missed the blocker review
<@jforbes:fedora.im>
15:22:09
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2282171 came up in blocker review as well
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:22:20
I also missed it. It looks like there's an accepted blocker for gtk4 apps on ARM, specifically mentioned RPi4/00.
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:22:36
I'll look into that this week and add feedback in the bug.
<@jforbes:fedora.im>
15:22:55
And of course the expired key bit is back, and I expect it will be waived again
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:23:02
Other than that, the other accepted blockers look to be faily status quo for this early in the cycle.
<@jlinton:fedora.im>
15:23:26
The BTI/anaconda bug I opened yesterday is probably a freeze exception
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:23:28
Image size issues and latest GRUB
<@jlinton:fedora.im>
15:23:47
if we can get if fixed soon, since it causes install failures on recent machines.
<@jlinton:fedora.im>
15:24:13

<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:24:17
sounds blockery, which BZ Jeremy Linton?
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:24:19
thx
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:25:20
Jeremy Lintonwhat devices would be affected?
<@jlinton:fedora.im>
15:26:35
grace, libvirt cpu=max, m2+, grav3+
<@jlinton:fedora.im>
15:26:42
basically anything that is 8.5+
<@pwhalen:fedora.im>
15:28:00
ok, sounds like FE will cover it as we have time too
<@wcrobert:matrix.org>
15:29:46
This is for F41 right?
<@jlinton:fedora.im>
15:31:00
yes
<@wcrobert:matrix.org>
15:31:54
OK, so it's at least not from enabling PAC/BTI support in libffi, that patch is absent from the package.
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:35:03
That's all I have for F41, obviously testing is much appreciated.

!topic 6) ==== Open Floor ====
<@wcrobert:matrix.org>
15:36:00
Does anyone have a direct line on benson and can poke him for me to take a look at: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2282603
<@wcrobert:matrix.org>
15:36:17
I sent Benson an email and haven't heard back, busy/vacation perhaps?
<@jlinton:fedora.im>
15:39:29
He tends to look at stuff on the weekends, so when I was emailing him not long ago it was usually a couple days turnaround.
<@wcrobert:matrix.org>
15:40:45
It's been almost a month
<@wcrobert:matrix.org>
15:40:53
Maybe I got spam foldered
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:44:11
Probably worth it to send a follow-up or ping him on Matrix here.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:45:16
just FYI, I got one of the snapdragon X laptops and have been poking at it... things are landing pretty fast upstream for them...
<@jlinton:fedora.im>
15:48:13
Benson has a handle here, but doesn't seem to respond on it, I have a 100+ day old messages to him that were never accepted.
<@jlinton:fedora.im>
15:48:26
email or BZ's.
<@wcrobert:matrix.org>
15:48:38
I show like 6 handles, not sure which one to use
<@wcrobert:matrix.org>
15:49:12
I bumped the email, we shall see. Give him a couple of weeks in case he's away
<@jlinton:fedora.im>
15:49:24
maybe different servers.
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:52:39
I'm gonna close us out here.
<@coremodule:fedora.im>
15:52:44
Thanks for attending all!
