Hi. 👋
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:03:08
Hello folks how is everyone doing today?
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
16:03:42
Heatwave is brutal and no AC. But good. 👍️
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:03:43
Let's start with the first topic of the meeting :D
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:04:00
patrikp: same same with ac then also sweating :D
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:04:10
yeah, hot here too, but I do have ac. ;)

!topic init process
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:04:29
Do we have anything for the init? Any blockers, tasks, issues, requests, features that needs releng intervention?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:04:56
I have things around rebuild, but I'll cover it in our next topic

<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:07:52
not much scheduled right? oh wait...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:08:30
Do we have any known brokers? Any request CVEs like last time that we need to take care of? Any updates etc that needs to go in before the rebuild starts?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:08:47
Otherwise, I have opened an issue tracker at releng to track all the thing

<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:09:20
so, there's one thing to note:
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:09:45
on the devel list the fmt maintainer is pushing a new fmt version... they built some things in a side tag and made a bodhi update...
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:10:01
but it's stuck in gating. We need to make sure thats in rawhide or reverted before the mass rebuild.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:10:12
Ansible one is merged, and i guess ran also; the koji tags and target are created ofcourse
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:10:12
The PRs at releng is also ready if someone can review it: https://pagure.io/releng/pull-request/12206

https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/2SC327B3FNRGQV6VQRIDTD7J3PLD7J2C/>
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:10:27
Do you happen to have a bodhi link for that handy?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:10:32
nirik: thanls
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:10:34
nirik: thanks
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:11:28
it's in that thread.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:11:52
The PR looks good, except... missing the tracking_bug? do we have a tracking bug?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:12:20
Also last time, folks reached out after the rebuilt and was not happy that some of the ocaml packges were built, I opened the tracker and sent an email about the functionality to skip it on devel-announce(needs moderator approval, yesterday mail was crashed) and at releng mailing list
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:12:29
oh, it's already there.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:12:30
nevermind me
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:12:36
nirik: i added a tracking a bug is it not there?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:12:38
hehe
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:13:37
The posts were acked... seems they posted to me.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:14:01
ah i cant see it yes
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:14:08
except... what? the bug is moved to f40? that looks like a mistake.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:14:11
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:14:57
the update seemed to f41
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:15:04
am i missing something here?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:15:24
no, the bugzilla bug I meant... it got moved to f40... it's the f41 fails to build from source bug...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:15:50
let me check
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:16:55
I can move it back... or you can... but we need to fix the bug in the scripts that moved it.
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
16:17:12
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:17:14
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=F41FTBFS
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:17:15
so, yeah, the /sbin merge thing is also a problem for the mass rebuild.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:17:31
the bug id is 2260875
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:18:55
i think the bug_id seems right?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:19:50
yes, thats all right.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:19:59
it's the "version: 40" thats wrong
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:20:11
ahhhhhhh
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:20:11
and the comments about it being moved from rawhide.
<@markrosenbaum:fedora.im>
16:20:11
It says version 40 though, when it should be 41
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
16:20:39
Looks like Aoife changed it manually.
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
16:20:39
"This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 40 development cycle.
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
16:20:39
Changing version to 40."
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:21:19
I'll update it
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:21:21
thats a script that does that. ;)
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:21:35
I have no idea why it hit this bug tho. It should have left it alone.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:21:42
thanks folks, i thought we are talking about the pr changes
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:21:53
sorry...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:22:52
nirik: can i update it manually for now, and look which scripts does it and fix later?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:23:26
yep.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:23:35
or just ask Aoife to look into it.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:23:50
circling back to this
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:24:08
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:24:22
the update regarding this change is also in testing state
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:25:10
right. this is sbin merge...
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:25:18
see this devel list thread: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/EOKNNAMSTPNFVKU3WQ3R42HFXKE6QLJS/
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:25:33
there's discussion about reverting it and doing it in f42 instead
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:25:55
but that needs to happen before the mass rebuild.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:25:57
yeah from the karma list and comments it seems like it wont be fixed in next 24 hours
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:26:46
yeah, there's a lot of weird corner cases it's been hitting.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:27:19
yeah but reading quickly i saw it's been worked in a side tag right?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:27:30
or is that merged to main rawhide (f41 tag)?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:27:52
yes, but that doesn't matter. If we run the mass rebuild now, it will pick up all those changes in the newly mass rebuilt packages.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:28:01
since they are from the same git/source...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:28:33
nirik: since you already shot an email about it, can you take a follow up about this saying we have a rebuild happening tomorrow?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:28:42
Aha :/
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:29:38
yeah, I replied to the thread.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:29:49
we just need to make sure it's dealt with before firing off the mass rebuild
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:30:02
i can do the email as well, otherwise, and will add a comment in the mass rebuild tracker about these two changes first one needs to be checked if it made it in one peice and the last one should be reverted
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:30:03
might note these things in the ticket.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:30:20
yeah last time it took 10 tries for mass rebuild
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:30:37
nirik: same minds and thanks for following up
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:31:15

<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:31:31
anything else, regarding this or release process?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:31:45
I added some comment to the PR...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:32:27
will do thanks
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:32:31
nothing else I can think of. Oh...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:32:49
shooot :D
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:32:58
do we want to ping the tools people directly (glibc/gcc) and confirm they are ready? we often do... but then they often tell us if there's a reason to wait.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:33:34
ofcourse, do we have a channel dedicated for this?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:33:46
or generally whom to tag?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:33:56
we used to try and get a hold of them internally... but that was in the irc days, not sure now.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:34:09
I can try and look.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:34:15

<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:35:34

<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>

looks like it might just be a #tools internally... but not sure.

<@patrikp:matrix.org>

<@patrikp:matrix.org>
16:37:43
Step 38.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:39:03
I am not sure what that is for... fesco reviews change proposals...
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:39:10
there's a process...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:39:24
from what i know, when a change proposals, aoife (fedora arch) sends an email and a fesco ticket it is created; and fesco people/fedora council decides in the fesco meeting
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:39:35
but it happens as the change comes
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:39:47
so nothing as specific that happens today
