<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:01:25
Hello, welcome!
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:01:43
How's everyone doing?
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:02:12
I had to find a place to live last week and actually physically move my things. Stressful times but should be better now.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:02:34
patrikp: Oh is it near the city now?
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:02:44
Yeah.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:02:47
all moved now?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:02:55
And happy house warming to youuu!
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:03:13
I'll make sure to get you indian stuff to put it in your kitchen :3
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:03:27
Yeah, kinda finished unpacking yesterday, desktop is all set up on a big desk (2 x 1 metre) and connected to the internet.
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:04:09
Shall we go to init?

<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:04:22
Do we have anything for the init? Any blockers/tasks/issues/requests/features that need releng intervention?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:05:28
so... we need to do a fedora-release update... to bump it to 1.

<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:06:11
Two things on top my need, final freeze, stable push request coming in
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:06:22
and then, hopefully a rc will be asked for soon. we should have the pungi config ready. ;)
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:06:25
oh I'll take a look at it, i thought it was done
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:06:34
sure
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:06:55
no, there was another fedora-release change for kde, but we still need to do the -1 one.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:07:13
(which should disable updates-testing and the prerelease warnings)
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:07:15
sure thing
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:07:30
yeah - you should have it soon enough
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:07:57
thats all I can think of for init process.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:08:28
oh one thing, patrikp did we hear from cisco folk yet?
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:08:37
We have the RPMs. We are trying to figure out how to get them to Cisco. E-mail was sent last week but no reply so I dug into my mails and found some more people from Cisco that replied to me before. I'll send another e-mail and wider. Hopefully someone will be able to at least point us in the right direction.

yes whenever there is a request from QE
<@patrikp:matrix.org>

<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:26:32
yeah
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:26:34
Yes.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:26:56
also to add one there was a toddler that Anton Medvedev is/was working on for unretirements for sometime
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:27:09
huh, I don't know if this is fixed or not.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:27:20
if it's not we should fix it/add it to our process.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:27:38
I'm not sure what the status to that is, I can check aand ask him to update it
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:27:51
What specifically?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:27:51
you can assign this one to him for now
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:28:08
When I do unretirements I use the "Give project" button in dist-git. I don't run the unretire script.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:28:32
right, but apparently there's a 'retirement reason' in the database we should clear when unretiring.
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:28:32
And the rest is git.
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:28:35
And Koji.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:28:35
mostly the automation for the unretirements, the whole process needs to be done automatically instead manually doing it
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:29:14
well, this is seperate from that, but it needs to be handled.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:29:19
basically (as I understand it)
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:29:25
yeah just read the ticket
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:29:35
Someone retires package foo with 'this is no longer used'
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:29:44
someone comes along and unretires it.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:29:59
someone later tries to retire it again and gets a database error...
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:30:20
I mean, it's a pretty corner case.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:30:28
yes I remember handling an error like this before
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:30:47
I can find the ticket but absolutely
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:31:14
https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/issue/10181
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:31:52
so, lets keep the ticket, update it saying we looked and would love help implementing the fix in the unretirement scripts?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:33:10
patrikp: can you add the comment above?
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:33:19
Kinda sounds like the script caused the issue in the first place, no?
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:33:29
Since we haven't been using the script has it been happening?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:33:33
manually i;m not sure which scripts we are referring to
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:33:37
but yeah
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:34:10
hence, I was pointing out to automation - once we have that in place we could add this logic in the same process
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:35:07
Alright I'll add a comment to the ticket. And I have no idea in what state the Toddler Anton has been working on is.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:35:36
leave it on me I'll look and put apt comment on this - need to make sure if anton is really working on it or not

well, with kiwi now, this could be tested locally perhaps?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:43:32
oh no, misread
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:45:20
re: #10102 β by default, pungi doesnβt include Recommends/weak deps unless explicitly configured. Well e could try setting `gather_method = "dnf"` in pungi.conf and adding `gather_backend_args = ["--setopt=install_weak_deps=True"]` to include Recommends/weak deps? then compare the Server DVD ISO size with and without that to see the impact?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:45:25
I am not fully sure where this would be.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:45:50
yes, that could be tried. ;) Probibly just locally?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:45:52
not totally sure
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:46:55
maybe we could also try this locally with a minimal pungi config or we could do it on staging to test the size difference before applying it to the official compose?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:47:23
so, koji appears to hard code False there for it's mock repos
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:47:42
install_weak_deps=0
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:48:05
so, it would have to be tested locally... and if we wanted to do it we would have to get koji to make that configurable.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:48:38
see 'koji mock-config --tag f42-build --arch x86_64' for the koji mock config.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:50:05
so, update ticket and someone(?) will test locally? or should we try and ping lsedlar again for the pungi angle?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:50:18
(except I don't think pungi can do much, it's hard coded in koji)
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:50:37
makes sense. Just curious β what changes would Koji need to make this configurable for mock repos? And if we wanted to simulate this in a more production-like local setup, is there a way to override that mock config locally?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:52:09
well, it would need to not hard code it in the default mock config it generates... and I guess make it optional/per tag with some default?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:52:21
but no, I don't think there's any way to bypass the koji default mock config.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:53:06
Ah, need to discuss this more let's put a comment tho to follow it up and capture today's discussion to not loose it.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
