<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:05:36
any followups from the last meeting?
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:08:15
nope, so let's do
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:08:16
!topic Announcements
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:08:45
we have a new systemd build tagged for release, including a couple of backported bugfixes
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:08:59
Matteo Croce: Ryan Wilson did most of the work there
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
16:09:37
sweet
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:10:03
also new since the last time is a qemu update
<@rrbc:matrix.org>
16:10:12
hi!
<@salimma:fedora.im>
16:10:49
I swear Roberto Campesato must have been watching the qemu keyword :)
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:11:30
oh and I pushed a bind backport for c9s, as the stock one has a memory leak we were hitting in production but couldn't pinpoint to a specific commit
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:12:12
anybody else has announcements?
<@salimma:fedora.im>
16:12:30
I'm getting a request to update mstflint (a Mellanox firmware burning tool) - currently we have 4.24.0 in hs.el9
<@salimma:fedora.im>
16:12:44
and we need 4.28 - any objection?
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:13:13
should be fine, we've backported that one before and it's usually pretty easy
<@rrbc:matrix.org>
16:14:29
I would like to build edk2 as well for hyperscale, but didn't manage yet. Tried quickly but hit some blocks around how the sources are fetched. I also tried some builds for c10s so I'll come back with some questions eventually
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:15:19
iirc we built that in EPEL at one point, because the stock one was fine but just missing a subpackage
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:15:26
edk2 is a bit of a mess
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:15:43
yeah https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/edk2-epel
<@salimma:fedora.im>
16:15:52
are you thinking of just building the Fedora version in HS, or an entirely different version?
<@rrbc:matrix.org>
16:16:25
this was the plan, and include some changes only in hs+fb (like disabling ipv4 support)
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:16:48
ah yeah if you're bumping to a new version doing the whole thing in Hyperscale is fine
<@salimma:fedora.im>
16:17:46
my trick normally is adding the Fedora dist-git as a remote , switch to the fedora branch, fedpkg srpm, then upload all the sources it downloads to the CentOS SIG lookaside :)
<@salimma:fedora.im>
16:18:17
I think our docs are now updated since the commands to upload are now properly packaged in one of the centos RPMS... centos-packager I think
<@rrbc:matrix.org>
16:18:33
ah interesting, I'll give it a try
<@salimma:fedora.im>

<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:19:13
one more thing: https://cfp.fedoraproject.org/centos-showcase-2024-11/ is happening on Nov 4, you should join if you can
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:19:17
(it's a virtual event)
<@salimma:fedora.im>
16:19:20
see the "if you need to add new source tarballs"
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:19:23
I've submitted a SIG update there as well
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:20:35
anything else for announcements?
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
16:23:44
yeah
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
16:23:50
we have c10s kernels now
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
16:24:22
admittedly the most recent one failed, and I'll have to look at it
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
16:24:45
ugh
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
16:24:48
bpftool: https://cbs.centos.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=4239024
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
16:25:04
this is going to become a problem, I guess
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
16:26:00
I have an idea of how to work around it, I'll try it for the next update
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:29:04
next up

I saw Conan Kudo did some spring cleaning, thank you!
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
16:29:30
yeah I'm going to try to be a little more aggro about that
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:29:36
at some point we should probably sit down and go over the tracker, a bunch of stuff there is pretty old
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
16:29:37
it's kind have turned into a mess of things
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
16:29:42
yeah
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
16:29:53
maybe the next meetup we can have a sit down for it
<@davide:cavalca.name>
16:30:03
yeah, good idea
