Our voting about to accept Jocelyn and Paul as new members is running. We have 14 days for voting, that ends on Friday June 13, if I get the mathematics right. Still opportunity to vote. Currently it stands +6/ +-0 / -0 and +7 / +-0 / -0
<@pboy:fedora.im>
17:08:39
This means that the decision has already been made in favor of Jocelyn and Paul. The majority is already settled…
<@pboy:fedora.im>
17:09:34
Nevertheless, if someone haven't voted yet, you should do so by Friday.

But formaly I can announce the decision not beforfe Saturday after the 14 days have expired.

In addition to Emmanuels recap I would add, that I had a discussion with Nirik about reworking our distribution media. One result is, that the generation of the isos will not change in foreseeable future.

17:15:07
In addition to Emmanuels recap I would add, that I had a discussion with Nirik about reworking our distribution media, late on Saterday after Emmanuel had to leave to catch his flight. One result is, that the generation of the isos will not change in foreseeable future.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
17:16:19
We agreed, that him and me take action to prepare the modification of the Software and Options selection. And I will document it in our WG pages, so we can start working with several members.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
17:17:25
When that done, we will pick the next important item, whatever it will be. We can decide this, when Nirik and me follow through with the first pare.

That will take some time, because everyone is so busy. But we have a start, after such a long time without any progress and waiting how and when the release might change.

I know one of them was the things that are accessible in Anaconda (Time zone, keyboard layout, and something else) that is handled in a 'first boot' setup on Workstation (current F42 ISO) that we would need to have some sort of a setup wizard run after install, but I also think that a lot of folks are going to use some automation for this (kickstart/ansible/chef/puppet)
<@korora:fedora.im>
17:25:44
I had some thoughts after I had installed workstation, but I didn't get them written down, I will try to get those thoughts down and out to the list.
<@jwhimpel:fedora.im>
17:28:15
I seem to recall a proposal to drop time zone setting from anaconda. If that memory is correct, I need the server to come up in UTC time as quickly as possible as it affect a lot of services in their startup. It may be okay to set the TZ via kickstart. But for freeIPA and other federated authentication and authorization purposes, the time must be correct and stable ASAP
<@pboy:fedora.im>
17:30:14
If I remember correctly. there was some objections to skip the time zone setting in Anaconda. So we probably shouldn't do that.
<@korora:fedora.im>
17:30:28
Set it to default to UTC and pull time from a known good NTP server? (I just checked and my kickstart files appear to set the timezone and show the RTC as UTC
<@korora:fedora.im>
17:31:37
There's no real reason to _not_ have the RTC set to UTC.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
17:32:10
I i remember ccorrecrtly, if Anaconda has a network connection, it determines the proper timezone from the IP address (or maybe additionally something else).
<@pboy:fedora.im>
17:32:31
If not, it defaults currently to US.
<@korora:fedora.im>
17:34:52
Where in the US? We have 6 TZ’s
<@jwhimpel:fedora.im>
17:35:04
I currently set it to UTC in anaconda (or kickstart if using something like virt-install) and then point to a good ntp pool. That works for my purposes. My ISP covers several different tz's with their pool of ip addresses, so I don't know how one could derive tz from ip address.
<@korora:fedora.im>
17:37:03
Same on the ip for me, but something on the backside is able to figure out where I am (UTC-4 at the moment, thanks to daylight savings time)
<@pboy:fedora.im>
17:37:20
Jocelyn (she/her): I'm not sure, I think it's East.
<@korora:fedora.im>
17:37:51
I’ll check this (both with workstation and server) I have a box I can drop off the network and see what the defaults are
<@pboy:fedora.im>
17:38:10
Proposed course of action: We should discuss everything openly now and continue the discussion on the mailing list. Then it would be good if someone could write a summary of what we have agreed on and what the three most important points of discussion are by Wednesday, two hours before our meeting. We can then work through this in the meeting and make a decision.
<@korora:fedora.im>
17:38:54
Seconded on the course of action.
<@jwhimpel:fedora.im>
17:39:12
👍️
<@pboy:fedora.im>
17:40:42
OK, who is ready to write the summary? I am not really suitable, as I wrote the original text with all the suggestions, including the controversial ones.
<@korora:fedora.im>
17:41:30
I can do it

Is t here an server ISO image of F42 somewhere? I seem to recall Adam giving a URL in the past, but I can't seem to find it. I can do some testing if I can find the proper ISO.
<@jwhimpel:fedora.im>
17:45:57
s/42/43/ Sorry about the noise, I got my release numbers confused in my mind.
<@pboy:fedora.im>

17:46:35
In the meantime: The situation is similar here. We need someone to take the hat. They should study the Fedora Magazine article, contact the relevant people, and draw up a roadmap. We already have a lot of information about the tests themselves.

<@aggraxis:fedora.im>
17:52:59
I might have missed something. Hat?
<@pboy:fedora.im>
17:53:30
The hat (or initiative) to organize a Server Test Day or better Test week.
<@aggraxis:fedora.im>
17:53:31
Oh for making the test plan?
<@pboy:fedora.im>
17:55:08
Yeah, we decided to run for a Server test week or day, regulary with euch release. The Fedora magazine is about which step we have to perform and whom to contact.
<@jwhimpel:fedora.im>
17:59:11
I unfortunately have major surgery scheduled in the not distant future, so I am very busy going to doctor visits and lab testing. Currently my mobility is very limited. So I am going to have to decline.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
17:59:31
OK, obviously we can't figure this out right now. Let's continue discussing it on the mailing list.

<@aggraxis:fedora.im>
18:03:16
I'm too distracted by work to get a coherent thought together, sorry. :)
<@jwhimpel:fedora.im>
18:03:57
We need to watch in F43 that dovecot has an incompatible configuration file syntax. We need to make sure this is widely communicated.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:04:57
John Himpel: Yes, I notices that, too. I suppose I have a lot to do to rewrite my mailservice configuration doc.
<@jwhimpel:fedora.im>
18:05:09
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. Recovery will be about 3 months for 75% and 1 year for 100%. Growing old is not for the weak! Again, thanks for the encouraging wishes.
