Hi Robby Callicotte
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:01:11
I think most everyone else is a Devcon, so I'm not sure how many will show up.
<@rcallicotte:fedora.im>
19:01:30
oh yeah

Hi Neil Hanlon
<@tdawson:fedora.im>

Well, this is more than I expected. So let's get going before it get's too late for some.

<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:04:15
I've gotten my "text only" MIN live working
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:04:41
It automatically logs in as liveuser, in text mode.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:04:48
I think it's rather handy.
<@rcallicotte:fedora.im>
19:04:50
that is cool
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:05:13
Right now it's 1.1 Gig, due to the installer.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:05:42
Although it only does text installs, and that works, it's pulling in all the anaconda gui stuff.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:06:12
If I install just anaconda-tui, it fails on one thing after another.
<@rcallicotte:fedora.im>
19:06:39
cross-deps with anaconda-tui?
<@davide:cavalca.name>
19:06:47
is this expected to work? we may wanna reach out to anaconda and see if there's a way to workaround the issue
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:07:05
So, I'm just working my way through the errors, to see if I can get an install working without hitting the whole anaconda gui stack.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:07:26
Thus far it's mostly drivers.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:07:58
Like iscsi and a few other odd things.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:08:41
But, in the end, even taking anaconda off, it's only saving 200 Meg. So, not alot of savings for the effort.
<@rcallicotte:fedora.im>
19:08:54
darn
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:09:28
But, it boots up fast and uses the bare minimum of memory.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:10:12
Anyway, that's what I've been up to this past month.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:10:32
Has anyone else got any reports/news from the last month or two?
<@rcallicotte:fedora.im>
19:10:40
We started the ball rolling on openqa, but I did not open a ticket for tracking :/ I believe Davide might have some more info on status.
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:10:52
you are generally not expected to use anaconda-tui for more than simple installs
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:11:00
it's _really_ cut down
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:11:53
I wasn't expecting to, but it wouldn't start up without those random drivers. So, maybe I just need to through some options at it.
<@davide:cavalca.name>
19:12:07
I was hoping to bump into bookwar at devconf to discuss this f2f but have not seen her around yet. The cloud openqa work is progressing nicely, and I suspect the main issue with deploying this for CentOS will be figuring out where to actually host it (meaning, in which AWS account)
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:12:08
That is great.
<@nhanlon:beeper.com>
19:12:51
awesome! I was just telling the rocky testing team about this work and they were excited by it, too. do you have any links or such you can share?
<@davide:cavalca.name>
19:13:12
you can expect a blog post to come out in the coming week or so
<@nhanlon:beeper.com>
19:13:26
Fantastic. looking forward to reading & boosting.
<@nhanlon:beeper.com>
19:13:44
**big** thanks to you and the folks who have been working on it
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:14:42
I'm pretty sure davdunc can get that squared away
<@davide:cavalca.name>
19:15:28
yeah Stewart is looped in as well and seemed confident we'd be able to figure something out
<@tdawson:fedora.im>

My next project I'm going to start work on is getting Persistant Media working.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:17:55
I'm giving myself till the end of the week to work on MIN, and then I'll be switching over to Persistant Media.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:19:31
Hmm ... my browser is acting up ... trying to get a link.
<@davide:cavalca.name>
19:20:07
SIGs can now build content for CentOS Stream 10
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:20:20
I'll be starting by looking through this, and see what I can do with it. - https://github.com/weldr/lorax/pull/1360
<@davide:cavalca.name>
19:20:27
I've already started building packages for Hyperscale
<@davide:cavalca.name>
19:20:41
probably a bit early for AltImages but we may want to request tags to at least get the infra going
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:21:05
Oh, that's a good point. I forgot about the tags.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:21:16
Yes, I'll put that on my list of things to do.
<@davide:cavalca.name>
19:21:23
(sorry, Element is lagging, didn't mean to cut you off)
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:21:41
It's lagging for me too. So no worry.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:21:51
And, that was about all I had to say.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:22:43
I guess at the very least, I can try making a CentOS Stream 10 live MIN image.
<@rcallicotte:fedora.im>
19:22:52
cool
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:23:30
kiwi is on the list for the first package Hyperscale needs in EPEL 10, so we're going to try to get that going
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:24:25
Hmm ... the livesys scripts, and other are in EPEL too ... hmm ... well ... at least I get the tags requested.
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:25:34
livesys-scripts is easy as a near-zero dep package
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:25:38
anaconda-liveinst as well
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:25:50
Davide Cavalca and I will ensure they're in EPEL 10
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:26:25
I hear the anaconda team is close to getting things switched over to wayland ... that will make things interesting.
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:26:38
yeah
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:27:39
Is there anything else coming up?
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:28:08
well, altimages came up a bunch today at devconf.cz in the workshop davdunc and I did today
<@rcallicotte:fedora.im>
19:28:19
:)
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:28:26
people are very interested in your work :)
<@davide:cavalca.name>
19:28:59
I have a tentative plan to get some images out for Apple Silicon systems in the c10s timeframe, leveraging the work we did in Fedora Asahi Remix
<@davide:cavalca.name>
19:29:30
this will likely happen under Hyperscale, but we'll need to build... bespoke images and some other fun stuff, so there will be overlap here
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:29:39
Wow ... that sorta blows my mind ... that would be cool.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:29:58
I don't have any apple hardware (and don't want any) but I still think it's cool.
<@davide:cavalca.name>
19:30:05
this is mostly because I need something to run on a spare mac studio I have that I want to use as a server at home :)
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:30:06
we originally were going to do in c9s, but the amount of package forking and borked stuff was too high for me to proceed there
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:30:20
I explored and decide nope :)
<@davide:cavalca.name>
19:30:45
yeah... the delta on c10s should be a lot smaller
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:31:22
we'll wind up having a fair bit more stuff in hyperscale asahi copr for this, but yeah it should be doable
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:32:02
Ya. As much as I like the SIG infrastructure, sometimes COPR is the more logical choise.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:33:12
I'm going to switch to Open Floor

My Alternative Images SIG talk "Lets talk about it" was accepted for Flock/Connect.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:34:36
We'll see what it conflicts with this time. :)
<@rcallicotte:fedora.im>
19:34:48
awesome. I guess everyone here will be at Flock?
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:35:05
I'm already booked, so yep for me.
<@rcallicotte:fedora.im>
19:35:32
I booked hotel and time away from work. just need to book a flight
<@davide:cavalca.name>
19:36:23
yup, I'll be there
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:36:31
I heard the main hotel was already booked ... so having it booked already is good.
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:36:46
I'll be there
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:37:04
everything is all booked
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:38:09
I believe Shaun is going to have CentOS USB sticks. I'll be getting him a MAX image for it.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:38:27
I'll hopefully have the persistant stuff done before then, so they are more useful.
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:40:38
I need to get weston updated in EPEL
<@conan_kudo:matrix.org>
19:40:43
so that it works again
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:41:37
Yep. It would be good to have it as one of our desktops.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:42:27
Do we have anything else before we close?
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:43:30
Thank you all for coming, especially while you are at a conference.
<@tdawson:fedora.im>
19:43:59
