22:23:48 <mizmo> jflory7: do you have ops? can you invite sayan?
22:23:54 * mizmo has an irc client that doesnt support ops
22:24:07 <jflory7> Hmmm, like channel OP?
22:24:12 <jflory7> I don't think I'll have privileges.
22:24:14 <jflory7> #chair sayan
22:24:14 <zodbot> Current chairs: decause jflory7 mizmo ryanlerch sayan
22:24:34 <mizmo> ah no need
22:24:37 <mizmo> okay
22:24:40 <mizmo> so like i was saying :)
22:24:55 <mizmo> i've been going thru fedora hubs issues on pagure that are tagged 'needsmockup'
22:24:58 <mizmo> and i came across this guy
22:25:01 <mizmo> https://pagure.io/fedora-hubs/issue/17
22:25:05 * jflory7 goes to grab food, will be back shortly
22:25:08 <mizmo> "A widget an admin can add to a hub showing users and badges which are important/relevant to that hub.
22:25:08 <jflory7> #topic Getting started
22:25:13 <mizmo> My first thought was to list users and then underneath that, their relevant badges. But on reflection, I think we want to highlight "badge paths" relevant to the hub, and then show which members are where on that path.
22:25:50 * decause is here
22:25:54 <decause> .hello decause
22:25:55 <zodbot> decause: decause 'Remy DeCausemaker' <decause@redhat.com>
22:25:59 <mizmo> ah yeh we should do that
22:26:03 <mizmo> .hello duffy
22:26:04 <zodbot> mizmo: duffy 'Máirín Duffy' <fedora@linuxgrrl.com>
22:26:15 <sayan> .hello sayanchowdhury
22:26:16 <zodbot> sayan: sayanchowdhury 'Sayan Chowdhury' <sayan.chowdhury2012@gmail.com>
22:26:32 <ryanlerch> hi?
22:26:42 <mizmo> hii! we're just starting with the .hello thing
22:27:20 <mizmo> so i'm looking at https://pagure.io/fedora-hubs/issue/17 and thinking about badges and hubs
22:27:51 <mizmo> hubs has two goals, one to make life easier for existing contributors, but the other and really important one is to make it easier to onboard newbies and make fedora contribution more accessible to all
22:28:18 <mizmo> and badges on so many levels is so good to getting towards that latter goal of onboarding and opening things up to a broader spectrum of wouldbe contributors
22:28:28 <mizmo> so i think badges integration with hubs is going to be really important
22:28:47 <mizmo> now we have a badges widget (https://pagure.io/fedora-hubs/issue/85 is the new mockup, there is one implemented now that's a bit simpler)
22:29:18 <mizmo> but that is a personal badges widget - what badges does the person whose profile i'm looking at have.... gives you an idea of the types of work / projects the person is involved with and their skillset
22:29:25 <mizmo> but we also need a badges widget for teams and projects
22:29:51 <mizmo> and the old dream, right, is that we could have badge series, maybe a series for each team, that is the 'getting started' series
22:30:03 * decause is following
22:30:05 <mizmo> with achievable first tasks new contributors to a team could go through to get up to speed on things
22:30:13 <ryanlerch> mizmo: i was planning on having a go at the badges widget(s) today
22:30:17 <mizmo> so i kind of want to talk about all of this today:
22:30:23 <decause> I can spitball a bit here, right?
22:30:29 <mizmo> 1) the limitations we have in fedbadges / tahrir
22:30:31 <mizmo> of course lol
22:30:37 <decause> we need a "skilltree"
22:30:42 <mizmo> 2) the design / experience of badges in hubs
22:31:02 <mizmo> 3) the actual paths for teams - which ones do we have, which ones do we need, what teams need help coming up with paths
22:31:14 <mizmo> /eom
22:31:16 <mizmo> :)
22:31:20 <mizmo> decause: tell me about the skilltree
22:31:28 <mizmo> ryanlerch: the profile one or the project one?
22:31:40 <mizmo> ryanlerch: (the project one will be hairy, bc we don't really have support for series)
22:31:49 <ryanlerch> profile one #85
22:32:00 <ryanlerch> did not know about the teams one
22:32:19 <mizmo> ryanlerch: ahhh sweet
22:32:33 <decause> they are popular tools for understanding trees of steps that need to be taken to get your character to a place you want to get to
22:32:37 <decause> here are a few examples:
22:32:39 <mizmo> yeh this is the sticky wicket i think for getting 17 done https://github.com/fedora-infra/tahrir/issues/343
22:32:45 <decause> apologies for the raw image searches
22:32:55 <mizmo> lol no apologies go4it
22:33:15 <decause> http://owocektv.deviantart.com/art/Patafour-Class-Skills-Tree-599753471
22:33:31 <mizmo> FINAL FANTASY 10 SPHERE GRID
22:33:34 <mizmo> lol
22:33:44 <decause> yes
22:33:46 <decause> mizmo: you got it
22:33:49 <mizmo> (that is more like a skill plate of spaghetti than a tree tho lol)
22:34:05 <decause> yeah, it's not as obviously a set of trees as some others' I've seen
22:34:15 <mizmo> http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Sphere_Grid
22:34:39 <decause> I can *imagine* having something that looks like that for badges, based on their 'color'
22:35:14 <decause> most badges right now are just a flat line, but some have hops when you need lvl 1 to get lvl 2 to get lvl 3
22:35:32 * decause could explain this better with a whiteboard
22:35:43 <decause> jitsi?
22:36:17 <mizmo> sure but you will see my messy house lol

22:36:33 <decause> you can block your video
22:45:24 <sayan> decause: yeah! radar charts sounds cool
22:46:33 <sayan> decause: I saw something like that popped up few months back.
23:12:56 <jflory7> Just getting settled!
23:13:02 <jflory7> I hear loud and clear, decause / mizmo
23:13:07 <jflory7> Lots of noise where I am
