Not a bad quorum today!
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:34:58
I am finishing a fast breakfast, so I might be a bit slow to kick off for the first few minutes of today's agenda.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:35:07
I had an idea of a quick meeting agenda for today though.
<@nancywrites:matrix.org>
14:35:21
What are you having for breakfast?
<@shaunm:matrix.org>
14:36:13
A quick meeting means I can have breakfast before my next meeting. :)
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:37:29
Beyond news and announcements, a quick look at the issue tracker shows things are pretty quiet lately. But it is misleading, because Fedora Data WG is off the rails with activity and things happening. It has been cool to watch, but I'm also not seeing any of our data folks present today.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:38:23
Knowing that this is our last meeting for the year, we could focus the discussion on a year in review, and to summarize some of the accomplishments for the year. Or we can spend some time discussing Forgejo. Because while we do exist over there, I don't think we have actually made a migration plan. And it's probably time.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:38:53
I see Michal here too, so we could check back in on the CommBlog piece, but I recall that MatH was looking into this a bit. I'm not sure if he is around.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:39:05
These are the things in my mind!
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:39:08
WDYT?
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:40:15
Also, sorry for not being more focused with an agenda. The combined context of opening Flock registration and CFP, plus FOSDEM Distro DevRoom zapped me.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:42:53
Uh oh. Maybe I scared you all with too serious topics. I should have started with something easier. Like Santa cookies and yule logs.
<@zlopez:fedora.im>
14:42:56
I don't have much updates regarding the commblog migration, so I'm OK with skipping that
<@zlopez:fedora.im>
14:43:07
I'm just working on keeping it running in the meantime
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:44:02
Sorry this has been a slow-going conversation. I feel optimistic that we are getting somewhere on it, and I haven't seen anyone shouting and screaming "no no no", so it feels like as things become more clear, we can just go ahead and do a migration. I really appreciate you keeping on top of the editing requests though. It helps a lot!
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:45:38
🦗🦗
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:45:53
Well, we could opt to have an early meeting and just keep the year-end easy.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:46:01
I think it would be helpful to have some news and announcements before wrapping.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:46:21
Because there are lots of interesting things happening before the year ends, and we can at least get those into the minutes.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:46:42
I sense that an early wrap and casual meeting couldn't hurt for a change 🙂
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:46:47
We have had a very busy year, actually.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:46:59
One day, maybe we can bring back the "year in review" article series we used to help teams write.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:47:14
OK, let's go ahead and do the announcement and news, then go to an open floor, and then wrap up.

!info Flock 2026 registration is now open. Next year's Flock will be 14-16 June, 2026 in Prague, Czech Republic. Notably, this is the earliest we have (ever?) opened the Flock registration. Please help spread the word and share the registration details in your circles!

!info The Fedora Linux 44 elections voting period is postponed to Wednesday, 17 December 2025. This will be communicated on #news:fedoraproject.org, announce@ list, and devel-announce@ list later today. This was due to a login issue with our WordPress sites (Magazine, Community Blog) having an issue with OpenID authentication due to an automatic update from a plugin. This has since been resolved, but caused a delay in publishing the interviews. The voting period will still close on Wednesday, 7 January 2026 at 23:59 UTC.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:52:51
Adrian Edwards: Howdy! 👋
<@moralcode:fedora.im>
14:53:22
!info CHAOSScon is happening in Brussels on January 29. This is a one day event one day before FOSDEM for people to come and learn about the various things happening in CHAOSS, including metrics development, data science, and developing our data collection software (Augur)
<@moralcode:fedora.im>
14:53:24
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:53:27
Adrian Edwards: We are probably having a short meeting today, but if you had any announcement or summary to share on how things are going in #data:fedoraproject.org, that would be cool. Even just from your observations. I haven't been able to follow closely in the last week or two because I've been super swamped.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:53:39
Good one! 👍️
<@moralcode:fedora.im>
14:54:00
ill be helping run the augur room at CHAOSS con and probbaly do the livestream in the main room too
<@moralcode:fedora.im>
14:54:21
ive largely been uninvoled in Fedora data stuff, but i see things moving along with people getting access to some of the selfhosted servers and things
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:54:23
I'll probably be seeing you there after checking out CentOS Connect in the morning.
<@moralcode:fedora.im>
14:54:34
and i suspect things will slow down for christmas before and ramp up in the new year
<@moralcode:fedora.im>
14:55:01
definitely could use more contributors tho - i dont want michael or any small group getting burned out withthe amount of things needed to wrangle that much dat

<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:55:23
I've seen hank and K Naraian (He / Him / His) ('The Exorcist') poking on things, but haven't followed the chat very closely.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:55:56
Any other community news or announcements, folks?
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:56:44
!info FYI: The Fedora Project is approaching our typical year-end "recharge." You can expect that over the coming weeks, many folks will begin to sign out for the holidays and you may not hear from some people until the new year. Expect that responses on tickets, in chat rooms, and on discussion threads will be reduced during this period.
<@moralcode:fedora.im>
14:56:52
CHAOSScon will also have some "unconference" AKA hallway track spaces throughout the day if any fedora data people want to grab a corner and hack on metrics, data analysis, etc while you have access to most if not all of the augur core team and CHAOSS Data science WG
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:57:06
I know Robert Wright (he/him) is planning to be there.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>

!topic Open floor
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:58:25
!info Due to lack of a formally-triaged agenda and lower quorum, we opted for a casual meeting today and will skip ticket discussion since we do not have the necessary people present to discuss some of the pending tickets in our GitLab issue tracker.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:58:50
!halp We acknowledged that the Forgejo migration work is increasingly coming into focus, and in 2026, we will need to recruit help on migrating our issue tracker from GitLab to Forgejo.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:58:59
Any other topics folks want to bring up for today?
<@moralcode:fedora.im>
14:59:29
shameless plug for open floor: if people want to contribute to augur, feel free to jump in and get started! i have some tickets open to try and update a lot of the docs to more clearly show the various guideposts and things to contribute as you grow your confidence with the code. We're hoping to add support for more forges like Forgejo in the next year, so if people want to help be part of making that happen more faster, i'd be happy to help show you around
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:59:46
