Im looking forward to attending in either case, Ive never been to Flock before! 13:11:53 looking forward to that as well if it takes place 13:17:23 I guess hardware funding is essentially a nogo given your folks above reply? 13:21:36 defolos, no we will not be getting 3000 builders 13:21:54 I actually think the builders have improved since the colo move but I appreciate nothing will ever be 100% perfect 13:22:08 or what Smooge said 🙂 13:22:42 amoloney, the speed of the builders has improved but the number that OBS is an exponential size larger than what we could put in the datacentre 13:23:51 there is the question of leveraging some cloud resources for building, but that requires a non-trivial amount of work to our build system 13:24:22 the topic has been discussed a few times, so I know it's in people's mind, but I have no ETA for anything 13:36:37 defolos, before we can get the builders we need: a build system which scales to those sizes, people to put in the work to build and maintain that system, a place to put those builders, people to put in the work to care for those builders and someway to pay for it all, My off the cuff estimate is about 4 million in initial capital expenses (with 400,000/year in capex after that) and 6 million a year in operational costs. (The capex can go down 13:36:37 and the opex goes up or the opex goes down and the capex goes up). That will need a serious business case (whether this was non-profit, start-up or corporation) and a way to recoup costs 13:55:05 that's a lot of money 13:55:24 and to be frankly honest, I neither have it nor a way how to get it 13:58:35 If you find a way to get that money please feel free to share it with me too defolos haha :) 13:59:11 guys thanks for your time this week, and I hope to see you over the few days during Nest! 13:59:15 #endmeeting
