18:05:03 <zodbot> adamw fires zodbot into the sun
18:05:19 <nirik> it's fas...
18:05:46 <adamw> you're welcome
18:06:42 <nirik> can we use this intriging power on... other things? :)
18:08:45 <smooge> ok currently we have 3 people here.
18:08:59 <smooge> so let us have some reports and call it a day
18:09:04 <smooge> #topic Outstanding Business
18:09:25 <smooge> #info smooge broke EPEL-7 and EPEL-8 new users with new epel-release package.
18:10:26 <nirik> we never did figure out where the script that updates that link is did we?
18:10:32 <smooge> Last compose a new epel-release went out for EPEL-8 and that broke the symlink in dl.fedoraproject.org. I hand fixed it this morning. I also saw that a new epel-release for EL7 would go out tomorrow so I made a hardlink to the package in testing for the time being to get past that
18:11:16 <smooge> nirik, as best I can tell the script went in before we changed out compose systems and didn't work with the latest or previous version of the compose and never got fixed
18:11:48 <smooge> so it got removed
18:11:56 <nirik> oh well
18:12:06 <nirik> what was automated once can be automated again.
18:12:20 <smooge> #info smooge 'fixed' epel-release for a short time
18:13:41 <smooge> #info EPEL-6 627268 systems EPEL-7 1156999 EPEL-8 5557 (doubled after centos-8 came out)
18:14:09 <smooge> sgallagh, do you have anything you wanted to say about where modularity is going?
18:14:15 <smooge> if so I can turn it over to you
18:14:45 <sgallagh> I don't have much to report on this week.
18:15:03 <smooge> nirik, did you have anything ?
18:15:04 <sgallagh> I hope to have good news next Tuesday though.
18:15:10 <smooge> #topic Open Floor
18:15:11 <warren> I'm back for this week's meeting. Need to re-approach the previous topic of what to do about EPEL7 nginx that needs to be upgraded. Let me know when its time for a topic change pls.
18:15:20 <smooge> sgallagh, cool I will give you a spot for next weeks meeitng
18:15:44 <smooge> warren, you can have the floor
18:16:23 <warren> https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/nginx/pull-request/6
18:16:51 <warren> 17 days ago I proposed switching EPEL7 to be maintained in sync with Fedora. None of the nginx maintainers seem to be using EPEL7 anymore so it's hard to maintain any other way.
18:17:32 <smooge> was there a problem with doing it that way?
18:17:34 <warren> I put a few hours of testing in the upgrade path of my EPEL7 server. It has some minor config changes for a basic TLS website. A few other people subsequently tested these EL7 packages on more complicated deployments and they reported it's fine.
18:17:44 <smooge> cool
18:17:45 <warren> EPEL7 upgraded nginx several times in the past.
18:18:05 <warren> well, I'm getting no more responses from people so at some point we need to decide to just do it
18:18:13 <warren> it isn't pushed to EPEL7 testing
18:18:31 <warren> it's only a DoS fix, not exploit, so it can go in slowly
18:18:39 <warren> I'm not a maintainer though
18:18:40 * nirik is fine with doing it. You can leave it in testing for a while...
18:19:14 <warren> I think I can just go ahead and commit and build with provenpackager? I haven't done this in like 9 years
18:19:16 <smooge> I am fine with doing it also
18:19:34 <nirik> yep. you should be able to.
18:19:44 <smooge> warren, yes you .. what nirik said
18:20:05 <warren> OK. I'll note that this was brought up in two EPEL commitee meetings and this will be in testing "for a while".
18:20:17 <warren> Maybe 2-3 weeks or 6 upvotes?
18:20:23 <smooge> nah just 3
18:20:25 <warren> OK
18:20:31 <smooge> if you get those you will be lucky
18:20:45 <smooge> putting in 6 is crazy talk time
18:21:00 <warren> but users pay attention and help the project right?
18:21:09 <warren> anyway ok good, move on.
18:21:40 <smooge> ok cool
18:21:43 <smooge> that was it for this week
18:21:49 <smooge> thank you all for coming this week
18:22:01 <smooge> is there anything else from the floor or should I just close it?
18:22:10 <nirik> did you mention the python36 stuff?
18:22:11 <warren> one more topic
18:22:21 <warren> what does it take to make pgreco provenpackager?
18:22:36 <warren> hard to argue that he isn't
18:23:26 <warren> there's a fedora thing but he doesn't work on fedora
18:23:34 <nirik> https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Provenpackager_policy/
18:24:01 <warren> ok, that looks doable
18:24:13 <nirik> well, we don't have any kind of epel only provenpackager... usually people are known in fedora land too
18:25:15 <warren> move on
18:28:03 <smooge> #endmeeting
