2024-02-12 17:14:49 <@adamwill:fedora.im> sure, biosboot 2024-02-12 17:15:05 <@adamwill:fedora.im> this is with the new cockpit ui that's replacing blivet-gui, right Kamil Páral ? 2024-02-12 17:15:14 <@kparal:matrix.org> yes 2024-02-12 17:15:16 <@adamwill:fedora.im> we need to update all the criteria and test cases for that, sigh 2024-02-12 17:15:29 <@adamwill:fedora.im> but for now let's read all instances of 'blivet-gui' as applying to it, that seems the sensible policy 2024-02-12 17:15:46 <@kparal:matrix.org> if you read the upstream issue, the problem is actually that if you change the TB/GB/MB dropdown, the value is updated, but not displayed 2024-02-12 17:15:54 <@kparal:matrix.org> so this is not related to biosboot 2024-02-12 17:16:08 <@nielsenb:fedora.im> Which makes it worse 2024-02-12 17:16:11 <@adamwill:fedora.im> oh, i was misreading conan's question 2024-02-12 17:16:21 <@kparal:matrix.org> change GB to MB and the value gets multiplied by 1000, but not changed in appearance 2024-02-12 17:17:00 <@conan_kudo:matrix.org> oof 2024-02-12 17:17:04 <@conan_kudo:matrix.org> that's actually pretty severe 2024-02-12 17:17:27 <@kparal:matrix.org> also given the fact that all disk changes are applied immediately 🙂 2024-02-12 17:17:39 <@conan_kudo:matrix.org> what?! 2024-02-12 17:17:43 <@adamwill:fedora.im> oh, so if you change the dropdown to MB first then type a value it works as expected, but not if you do ti the other way around? 2024-02-12 17:17:53 <@kparal:matrix.org> that's what it says 2024-02-12 17:17:58 <@kparal:matrix.org> in UI 2024-02-12 17:18:04 <@conan_kudo:matrix.org> oh god 2024-02-12 17:18:09 <@conan_kudo:matrix.org> that's horrifying 2024-02-12 17:18:17 <@kparal:matrix.org> that should be correct 2024-02-12 17:18:19 <@conan_kudo:matrix.org> we literally are back to the 90s 2024-02-12 17:18:31 <@nielsenb:fedora.im> "!@#$ it, we're doing it live", the installer experience 2024-02-12 17:18:31 <@adamwill:fedora.im> alright, everybody save the freakout for later 2024-02-12 17:18:56 <@conan_kudo:matrix.org> this is definitely blockery 2024-02-12 17:19:06 <@conan_kudo:matrix.org> especially with the *shudders* implications 2024-02-12 17:19:12 <@conan_kudo:matrix.org> +1 BetaBlocker 2024-02-12 17:20:43 <@sgallagh:fedora.im> +1 BetaBlocker 2024-02-12 17:21:22 <@sgallagh:fedora.im> But can someone file a bug to get batched changes made to the disk and raise THAT as a blocker oto? The "do the partitioning yourself" solution you see is existing project Cockpit Storage which is integrated into Anaconda. The point of the integration was to make it obvious to people that this is an external tool and not a part of Anaconda. For that reason changes are applied immediately. The plan is that only a fraction of users should use this tool but most of the users should be covered by automatic "smart" guided partitioning. This Guided partitioning should be our main focus. At the end the goal is to simplify partitioning for users and make it easier to use Anaconda and install Fedora. 2024-02-12 18:02:54 <@nielsenb:fedora.im> I don't think you can just ignore the flow established users, or users switching that want to preserve their data, might use. 2024-02-12 18:03:08 <@adamwill:fedora.im> we don't need to argue about that in this meeting, though 2024-02-12 18:03:11 <@adamwill:fedora.im> let's keep it focused 2024-02-12 18:03:17 <@conan_kudo:matrix.org> honestly, it's pretty bad form that Cockpit Storage does that at all. 2024-02-12 18:03:25 <@conan_kudo:matrix.org> but anyway, not something for here 2024-02-12 18:03:30 <@nielsenb:fedora.im> Right 2024-02-12 18:04:35 <@nielsenb:fedora.im> I don't think we can just ignore the flow established users, or users switching that want to preserve their data, might use. 2024-02-12 18:05:10 <@adamwill:fedora.im> !topic Proposed Final blockers 2024-02-12 18:08:03 <@adamwill:fedora.im> !topic (2247872) Don't write /etc/lvm/devices/system.devices when not doing an end-user install 2024-02-12 18:08:07 <@adamwill:fedora.im> !link https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2247872 2024-02-12 18:08:10 <@adamwill:fedora.im> !link https://pagure.io/fedora-qa/blocker-review/issue/1438 2024-02-12 18:08:13 <@adamwill:fedora.im> !info Proposed Blocker, anaconda, POST 2024-02-12 18:08:15 <@adamwill:fedora.im> !info Ticket vote: FinalBlocker (+0,0,-1) (-nielsenb) 2024-02-12 18:08:25 <@adamwill:fedora.im> Peter Boy: around? i think your thoughts on this have developed? 2024-02-12 18:09:25 <@pboy:fedora.im> Soprry<, yes 2024-02-12 18:10:30 <@pboy:fedora.im> We are sure, we have a solution, but not tested yet.
