!topic Strategy 2028

!info the Fedora Project has a guiding star to 'Double the number of contributors who are active every week'. We are spending some time this morning looking at what is our strategy to deliver on this, and identify 2025/2026 goals to pursue that bring us closer to this statement
<@amoloney:fedora.im>
11:06:14
!agreed We agree that the community initiative process is one of the main ways that Fedora Council can use to deliver on our 2028 strategy goals. We also will commit to being more practical in our approach on how we support and invest in these initiatives.
<@amoloney:fedora.im>
11:07:24
!info The council is breaking for lunch soon, we have not covered 2025/2026 strategic investments yet, but this is in progress via conversation and once a decision is reached, we will provide an !agreed statement

11:10:41
!info Reminder: this channel is being used to track the Fedora Council F2F topics we are discussing in real time, and providing communication on decisions/conclusions/ideas we have reached and made. We will also be publishing some blog posts next week and through February with the topics we have covered and reached decisions on, that expanded on each topic to provide deeper context to the discussion, and share actionable steps the council is doing/will do, and opportunities for the wider community to potentially get involved in

!topic Fedora Strategy Continued
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
13:55:34
I'm very curious about this topic and what y'all come up with :)
<@amoloney:fedora.im>
13:56:09
!info the Fedora Council are still discussing how to execute on the Fedora Strategy 2028. Initiatives are one way we feel we can be impactful, but not all activities fit, or need to fit a community initiative bracket. We have been discussing this through lunch, and will continue this conversation after our next topic
<@theprogram:fedora.im>
13:56:30
Me too, I like the idea of a commitment to 'practical approaches'
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
13:57:31
Interesting. But we as Council also cannot take ownership of 20 different ways to achieve the Fedora Strategy. We need to find a way that we as Council can directly impact strategic outputs, while also leaving room for the community to take ownership of this in spaces that are not led by the Council.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
13:57:39
Decentralized approach >>>
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:00:35
(IMHO, Community Initiatives are how we should do it at the Council level, because this is the vehicle we have adopted for people who want to do strategic work at the top-level of the project, which the Council operates at)

!topic DEI Event Policy Review
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:40:59
We had a chat, it was good, we will begin the process of moving forward with this policy 🙂
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
14:41:04
Although to start, it mostly applies to Flock
<@amoloney:fedora.im>
14:45:06
!agreed the council are in support of a DEI Event policy that will apply to Flock. We will use the Policy Change Policy to move this policy forward towards formalization.

The ongoings of this ongoing, are ongoing
<@misc:ephaone.org>
14:56:44
well, I understood that we kept the existing wording as well, or I would have pushed for a dealine regarding extension
<@misc:ephaone.org>
14:56:52
but this can still be discussed I guess
<@amoloney:fedora.im>
14:57:26

this is just the process we use for making these policy decisions, but we are not changing anything about your proposed policy
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
15:20:03
Best description ever 😂
<@amoloney:fedora.im>
15:31:23
!agreed The Fedora Council has identified areas of focus that we will actively pursue in 2025 that support the Fedora 2028 Strategy. A council member has been assigned as an Executive Sponsor of each area. The executive sponsor is now responsible to form an initiative around, or in some cases provide more practical supports around, each focus areas by no later than March 2025. A full list of these focus areas will be published as a blog post after the F2F meetup concludes so we have time to provide better context on each area and how they connect to our strategy.
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
15:37:14
Ohhh, I am interested in that 👀
<@jflory7:fedora.im>
15:37:21
I wonder if I am getting volun-told a focus area 😄
<@amoloney:fedora.im>
