16:01:55 <zodbot> alebastr[m]: alebastr 'Aleksei Bavshin' <alebastr89@gmail.com>
16:02:24 <jkonecny[m]> .hello jkonecny
16:02:27 <zodbot> jkonecny[m]: jkonecny 'Jiří Konečný' <jkonecny@redhat.com>
16:03:23 <alebastr[m]> #topic Progress and remaining items for f38 release
16:05:07 <alebastr[m]> Not a lot of things here. Fale already mentioned that the main remaining item, sericea.fedoraproject.org, is in progress.
16:06:53 <alebastr[m]> I've tagged sway-config-fedora 0.3.0 which supposed to be the last update until f38 release (unless I messed up and it's broken). Testing for https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2023-caf967e49d would be appreciated.
16:08:01 <alebastr[m]> What remains is testing and review of the sericea-docs text.
16:08:40 <alebastr[m]> I still want to do something about the NVIDIA 30xx status update...
16:09:05 <jkonecny[m]> Just layering it now
16:10:37 <alebastr[m]> anything I forgot to mention?
16:10:47 <alebastr[m]> It's a good time to come up with a completely release-blocking issue that we all missed :)
16:12:35 <zekez[m]> I dont know what constitutes a release block issue but there is a couple ootb problems I think would make sense to address. Waybar is still missing icons to my knowledge and the plymouth config is not used.
16:13:24 <alebastr[m]> we're not doing anything to the config provided by waybar upstream. at least in this release :(
16:14:17 <alebastr[m]> it was the plan, but things happened and now it's a bit too late to do all the necessary packaging updates
16:15:39 <zekez[m]> Yeah its not a huge issue its mostly cosmetic. I am not sure if its completely a config issue as packages on arch to my knowledge work with the default config.
16:17:41 <alebastr[m]> Something about different default fonts, etc...
16:18:11 <zekez[m]> Yeah its probably a bit of a hassle to consider changing now
16:18:18 <alebastr[m]> IMO, the only goal of the default waybar config is to encourage users to change it immediately :)
16:18:18 <zekez[m]> What about the plymouth config?
16:18:50 <zekez[m]> Haha, fair enough
16:20:33 <alebastr[m]> I'll check if plymouth-system-theme is the only necessary change after work today.
16:21:22 <zekez[m]> Alright
16:21:39 <zekez[m]> Ill do a quick check now
16:22:53 <alebastr[m]> you'll need to rebuild initrd to verify that. encryption prompt appears before the root filesystem is available, so it uses whatever was packed to the ramdisk during the kernel installation
16:24:45 <zekez[m]> Yeah I am doing that currently I am just making sure I am doing it right since its late and I dont want to brick anything
16:28:24 <zekez[m]> Yep that worked
16:30:25 <zekez[m]> Another thing I noticed while I am in the default system is that we dont have any of the standard home folders by default is this an intentional change?
16:30:43 <alebastr[m]> jkonecny, Fale: I was planning to delete or archive all the fork repos we have in our gitlab namespace: comps, ostree, kickstarts, etc. The important changes are already merged and we're not going to use these forks.
16:31:44 <jkonecny[m]> agree
16:31:48 <alebastr[m]> zekez[m]: oh. I knew I forgot about something.
16:33:18 <zekez[m]> Also rofi window mode support whats the information on that? It seems like from the rofi wayland repo it should be supported now
16:33:21 <alebastr[m]> /etc/xdg/autostart/xdg-user-dirs.desktop should create the directories, but systemd ignores that because of X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase
16:34:58 <alebastr[m]> zekez: it's not included in releases yet. I can apply the window patches to the package.
16:35:35 <alebastr[m]> I thought 1.7.6 will be out by now :(
16:36:37 <zekez[m]> thats very odd the commit in their readme says it should be available https://github.com/lbonn/rofi/commit/5d4a3e14788945a9a1c7d18993151a3b00649373 but I guess that applies to dev then
16:36:51 <zekez[m]> alebastr[m]: is this something that can be fixed before release?
16:36:51 <alebastr[m]> yep. that's only available in the dev branch
16:37:22 <alebastr[m]> zekez[m]: yes, we should just run xdg-user-dirs-update from the config
16:37:29 <zekez[m]> alebastr[m]: its been in dev for a decent amount of time
16:37:59 <zekez[m]> its probably best to wait for release I guess
16:41:09 <zekez[m]> archive tool? probably out of scope for the release but I figure I should mention it as we also discussed if we should be keeping thunar in the default image what are your opinions on this currently?
16:42:37 <alebastr[m]> is there even a good archive tool that is not tied to X11 or any desktop environment?
16:43:27 <alebastr[m]> I'm going to admit that I haven't been using anything beyond tar and 7z for many years
16:44:34 <zekez[m]> I tend to use gui for archives a fair bit mainly for game modding it is just a bit more painful with tui tools.
16:45:43 <zekez[m]> ark or file roller should work pretty well but I dont think we found a way to change the thunar config?
16:45:47 <zekez[m]> I also tried peazip and that was abysmal on a tiling window manager
16:49:52 <zekez[m]> also default terminal in thunar
16:49:54 <rustynail[m]> i still unpack with midnight commander sometimes 🤡
16:51:19 <alebastr[m]> even thunar is there mostly because it implements org.freedesktop.FileManager1 and xdg-desktop-portal wants that
16:51:39 <zekez[m]> also just double checking the max audio issue and the pavucontrol-qt has been sorted?
16:52:52 <alebastr[m]> sway-config-fedora update should address the audio issue. pavucontrol was switched in the classic spin images
16:52:56 <alebastr[m]> for ostree there's a couple of pull requests I posted right before the meeting
16:53:04 <zekez[m]> cool
16:53:32 <alebastr[m]> you won't be getting package set update on the already installed system automatically though
16:54:40 <zekez[m]> would it make sense to consider dolphin for default file management? I think the config can be changed seperately and it also intergrates with ark archive tool.
16:55:17 <zekez[m]> otherwise file-roller should be minimal to add for archive management its just adding the configs to thunar which seems to be an issue
16:56:12 * alebastr[m] tries to remember why we're not using dolphin
16:56:48 <alebastr[m]> aside from the fact that it's KDE and brings a lot of kde framework dependencies, it could be a viable alternative
16:57:47 <zekez[m]> is there any other things you think need mention as the meeting should be coming to a close soon?
16:58:55 <zekez[m]> > * <@alebastr:fedora.im> tries to remember why we're not using dolphin
16:58:55 <zekez[m]> hamburger menus in dolphin are a little wonky
16:59:02 <zekez[m]> > * <@alebastr:fedora.im> tries to remember why we're not using dolphin
16:59:02 <zekez[m]> * hamburger menus in dolphin are a little wonky, thats just a current observation
16:59:03 <zekez[m]> I think thunar makes more sense but if it cant be configured that will be a pain
16:59:47 <alebastr[m]> zekez: just need to thank you for all the feedback :)
16:59:47 <alebastr[m]> You're reporting problems that we all missed
17:00:54 <zekez[m]> thanks
17:01:00 <alebastr[m]> but now I have to close this meeting and run to work. my work meetings start in less than an hour
17:01:24 <zekez[m]> should be possible to configure thunar in ~/.config/xfce4/helpers.rc and change default terminal
17:01:41 <alebastr[m]> I'll sort most of the TODOs later tonight or tomorrow
17:02:07 <zekez[m]> zekez[m]: yep that works
17:02:07 <alebastr[m]> and I guess I'll have to tag sway-config-fedora 0.3.1 :'(
17:03:01 <zekez[m]> ~/.config/xfce4/helpers.rc
17:03:01 <alebastr[m]> #endmeeting
