17:08:28 <carlwgeorge> the maintainer agreed to do what i was recommending for fedora, but wanted to diverge and keep the provides in epel.  we brought it up with the epel steering committee, which devolved into arguments about how compatible is "compatible enough" that is referenced in the guidelines.

17:10:15 <carlwgeorge> we voted essentially that epel shouldn't diverge from fedora and that it wasn't compatible enough.  the maintainer suggested he could increase the compatibility in the future, and i told him that even if that's the case there isn't justification for epel to diverge from fedora, so if he wants to appeal that in the future he should file an fpc ticket.
