12:04:07 <asamalik> #topic 1/ Last week's stats
12:04:27 <asamalik> #info Week of 20 Jul: 61.1k pageviews -- slightly below last week
12:04:43 <asamalik> #topic 2/ In progress followup
12:04:43 <asamalik> #info Looking at the 'in progress' column, is there something that's been finished? Anything to follow up on with its author?
12:04:43 <asamalik> #link Board: https://teams.fedoraproject.org/project/asamalik-fedora-magazine/kanban
12:04:53 <asamalik> #info 3 cards in progress
12:05:35 <asamalik> #183 is sitting there for a month, and it's a release announcement, we have no reactions from the author
12:06:17 <asamalik> torsava: are you still interested in finishing your Fedora Magazine article? https://teams.fedoraproject.org/project/asamalik-fedora-magazine/us/183
12:07:51 <asamalik> #213 is in progress, but not assigned, and it looks like the author is not in Taiga
12:08:08 <jakfrost> I'm not sure what is going on with #213. I haven't been able to get a response from the author
12:08:32 <gregbartholomew> I think it's been in WP for quite a while as well.
12:08:50 <asamalik> I've added the author to the board and assigned
12:10:01 <jakfrost> asamalik: I tried that earlier and couldn't find him
12:10:16 * jakfrost scratches his head
12:10:36 <asamalik> jakfrost: I clicked on their name in wordpress, copied their username from the URL, asked zodbot for their email, added that email to Taiga
12:11:00 <jakfrost> gotcha, so simple when you say it that way
12:11:34 <stickster> The way to find email in zodbot by the way: /msg zodbot fasinfo <fasusername>
12:12:12 <jakfrost> stickster: thanks, bcotton showed me that trick earlier
12:12:40 <gregbartholomew> I thought I tried that method before, but the account remained disabled/grayed-out and in "pending" status. I wasn't able to add a disabled account to a card.
12:12:42 <asamalik> or I do "/query zodbot" to open a chat window with it and then just "fasinfo <nick>" in there
12:13:00 <jakfrost> but he used just .fasinfo <fasusername>
12:13:12 <jakfrost> but I like options
12:13:14 <asamalik> gregbartholomew: if it's pending in Taiga, that means they haven't logged in.. they need to log in first
12:13:30 <stickster> yeah, that works too, it puts the info in the current channel. My way sends it privately, that's all
12:13:45 <jakfrost> okay, that is better
12:13:58 <jakfrost> must respect privacy
12:14:55 <asamalik> so, looks like everything that's in progress is in progress
12:14:57 <asamalik> anything else here?
12:15:48 <gregbartholomew> The last note on #209 says it is waiting for review.
12:17:43 <jakfrost> It looks like it shoild be in review
12:19:06 <asamalik> you're right, moving it
12:20:36 <asamalik> #topic 3/ Finished articles to review
12:20:36 <asamalik> #info Looking at the 'review' column, let's decide which articles are good to go. Move each either to the 'to edit' (finished) or to the 'in progress' (needs more work) and provide feedback.
12:20:36 <asamalik> #link Board: https://teams.fedoraproject.org/project/asamalik-fedora-magazine/kanban
12:22:36 <asamalik> 210 looks good to me
12:22:45 <jakfrost> me too. also
12:24:36 <asamalik> and back to 209... the article itself looks good to me, but it states a few facts without references, like in the "On the Kernel" section
12:25:26 * stickster looks
12:25:40 <gregbartholomew> Do we want references to ZFS though? I though that was a bit taboo.
12:26:44 <jakfrost> I think ZFS or any file system that you can use is not necessarily taboo
12:27:30 <jakfrost> I am not sure that the kernel updates break the system normally, at least I never experience it
12:27:41 <jakfrost> maybe with rawhide
12:28:43 <gregbartholomew> Once in a while, a kernel update will be incompatible with the current version of ZFS that is available though the ZFS rpm repository.
12:28:55 <gregbartholomew> I think that is what he is probably referring to.
12:29:07 <asamalik> jakfrost: I only see a reference about rebuilding custom kernel modules every time new kernel comes in
12:29:30 <jakfrost> the kernel section should have links to the wiki about release cycle, which has the testing criteria also linked there
12:29:49 <gregbartholomew> When that happens, the system won't boot with the newest/default kernel. You have to pick the previous kernel until the ZFS repo catches up.
12:30:17 <jakfrost> asamalik: that is what I am talking about, custom kernels are sort of an outlier
12:30:35 <jakfrost> gregbartholomew: that is logical
12:31:49 <asamalik> it's a nice article, I wonder however if we want to publish it as a story of this user, why did they switch to Fedora, and what's important to them? compared to a generic "switch to Fedora"...
12:32:21 <asamalik> similar to the "how do you Fedora" series
12:32:25 <jakfrost> perhaps, a user perspective on switching say
12:32:27 <asamalik> but "why do you Fedora" :D
12:33:09 <gregbartholomew> I think I remember him noting something about needing some usability software. I think the author is visually impaired.
12:33:10 <asamalik> the article doesn't give you all the reasons why Fedora is amazing, but a few reasons why it's amazing to that user, and I like it
12:33:43 * gregbartholomew not 100% sure about that.
12:34:49 <jakfrost> it reads well in any case
12:35:04 <jakfrost> sysoplab: any thoughts
12:36:16 <asamalik> we could call it something like "Matthew Arnold: Why I switched to Fedora"
12:36:31 <jakfrost> +1
12:36:43 <asamalik> then the second paragraph starting with "In my case..." would work well
12:37:02 <asamalik> and it could encourage other people to tell their stories
12:37:17 <jakfrost> which would be a good thing
12:39:09 <gregbartholomew> +1
12:39:59 <asamalik> cool!
12:40:04 <asamalik> moved to the next column
12:41:16 <asamalik> also asking the author about the title, if they're ok with it
12:41:36 <jakfrost> good point
12:41:37 <asamalik> nothing else left in this column!
12:41:49 <asamalik> #topic 4/ Articles to edit
12:41:49 <asamalik> #info Looking at the 'to edit' column, assign an editor and a cover image creator.
12:41:49 <asamalik> #link Board: https://teams.fedoraproject.org/project/asamalik-fedora-magazine/kanban
12:42:02 <asamalik> #206 is already assigned since last meeting
12:42:14 <jakfrost> so is #209
12:42:29 <jakfrost> sysoplab was assigned as editor
12:42:37 <asamalik> and I'd suggest #210 for Monday and #209 for next Wednesday to give the author time to confirm the title
12:42:49 <asamalik> oh ok!
12:43:01 <asamalik> I'll not it in the card then
12:43:01 <gregbartholomew> I didn't mean to assign sysoplab as editor, specifically.
12:43:16 <jakfrost> oh I misunderstood then
12:43:19 * asamalik is now confused
12:43:23 <asamalik> :D
12:43:25 <jakfrost> not the first time
12:43:29 <jakfrost> for me that is
12:43:32 <gregbartholomew> He had opinions about how the article should be revised before being moved forward.
12:43:42 <gregbartholomew> It looks like his concerns were addressed.
12:43:48 <asamalik> jakfrost: lol, I was thinking "thanks!" :D
12:44:37 <jakfrost> asamalik: Confusion is a state of mind
12:44:51 <gregbartholomew> I just asked sysoplab to work with the author on the article. I guess that means that sysoplab could do the pre-publication editing though.
12:45:12 <asamalik> gregbartholomew: did he say yes? :)
12:45:33 <gregbartholomew> sysoplab agreed to work with the author on some revisions, yes.
12:46:14 <asamalik> ok
12:46:15 <gregbartholomew> didn't agree to final editing of the article for publication by a deadline though.
12:46:42 <jakfrost> I think he mentioned he was very busy this week
12:46:46 <gregbartholomew> also, he seems to have disappeared recently.
12:46:46 <asamalik> ok
12:47:27 <asamalik> ok, so let's give him time to deal with stuff then and not assign him :)
12:47:33 <asamalik> so we need to volunteers!
12:47:38 <jakfrost> so I could edit #210 if needed
12:47:42 <asamalik> I'm already signed up for #2016
12:47:47 <asamalik> jakfrost++
12:47:50 <gregbartholomew> I can take #209
12:47:55 <asamalik> jakfrost: both image and edit?
12:48:01 <jakfrost> sure
12:48:01 <asamalik> glb++
12:48:07 <asamalik> gregbartholomew: both image and edit?
12:48:13 <gregbartholomew> sure
12:49:23 <asamalik> #action jakfrost edit + image #210
12:49:31 <asamalik> #action glb edit + image #209
12:49:36 <asamalik> #topic 5/ Publishing schedule
12:49:36 <asamalik> #info Looking at the 'queued' and 'to edit' columns, decide the publishing schedule for the next week period.
12:49:36 <asamalik> #info If there is not enough content, we might also need to look at the 'in progress' or even the 'article spec' columns come up with additional content.
12:49:36 <asamalik> #link Board: https://teams.fedoraproject.org/project/asamalik-fedora-magazine/kanban
12:49:50 <asamalik> and I was thinking #210 monday and #209 Wednesday
12:49:58 <jakfrost> +1
12:49:58 <gregbartholomew> +1
12:50:46 <asamalik> #proposed #agreed PUBLISHING SCHEDULE: Fri 31 Jul 2020: #206 Real-time noise suppression in PulseAudio (image: asamalik, edit: asamalik) -- Mon 03 Aug 2020: #210 Backup & restore toolboxes (image: jakfrost, edit: jakfrost) -- Wed 05 Aug 2020: #209 "Matthew Arnold: Why I switched to Fedora" (image: glb, edit: glb)
12:51:05 <asamalik> and since you've +1'd already...
12:51:06 <asamalik> #agreed PUBLISHING SCHEDULE: Fri 31 Jul 2020: #206 Real-time noise suppression in PulseAudio (image: asamalik, edit: asamalik) -- Mon 03 Aug 2020: #210 Backup & restore toolboxes (image: jakfrost, edit: jakfrost) -- Wed 05 Aug 2020: #209 "Matthew Arnold: Why I switched to Fedora" (image: glb, edit: glb)

12:51:20 <jakfrost> +1
12:51:24 <asamalik> \o/
12:51:25 <jakfrost> for balance
12:51:37 <asamalik> #topic 6/ Article proposals to clarify / approve
12:51:38 <asamalik> #info Review the the article proposals and decide about what's next — a new article spec? more discussion?
12:51:38 <asamalik> #link Article proposals in our forum: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/c/project/Discussion-related-to-Fedora-Magazine
12:51:58 <asamalik> I looked in the forum before the meeting, created one card, no other new ones right now
12:52:09 <asamalik> we seem to be doing a great job of monitoring it throughout the week!
12:52:30 <asamalik> everyone++
12:53:26 <asamalik> #topic 7/ Editor of the Week
12:53:32 <asamalik> we need one more volunteer today
12:54:03 * jakfrost nudges the semi-lurker stickster
12:55:24 <jakfrost> five minute left...
12:55:48 <asamalik> yes, we're on time :)
12:55:59 <asamalik> I can also ask in the forum for a volunteer
12:56:14 <asamalik> maybe someone who's not here today could be here next week :)
12:56:42 <jakfrost> I would but I am working on a very big quote (for me anyway), and I am going to setup rawhide on my fedora box so...
12:57:20 * stickster pops up
12:57:30 <asamalik> there is no pressure!
12:57:34 <gregbartholomew> I've got some major server upgrades to prep for for the upcomming Fall semester.
12:57:57 <stickster> I can do next week. That's basically running the meeting and sorting out the next week's schedule?
12:58:06 <jakfrost> correct
12:58:09 <asamalik> oh, fantastic
12:58:12 <asamalik> stickster++
12:58:12 <bcotton> and keeping an eye on comments, proposals, etc
12:58:19 <jakfrost> stickster++
12:58:28 <bcotton> stickster++
12:58:28 <stickster> OK. That eye keeping starts when? Today or next week?
12:58:35 <bcotton> sunday through saturday
12:58:38 <stickster> OK.
12:58:42 <gregbartholomew> stickster++
12:58:43 <asamalik> #info stickster will be Editor of the Week next week
12:58:52 <jakfrost> we will all help where we can
12:58:55 <asamalik> and that's all for today, thanks everyone!
12:59:04 <asamalik> #endmeeting
