hi hi
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:07:40
alrighty, let's get rolling
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:07:44
!topic Previous meeting follow-up
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:08:09
!info there are no action items from the previous meeting
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:08:44
on the ongoing topic of 'tool migration' - i'm now posting all meeting announcements to discourse as well as the mailing list, and posting minutes as replies to the announcements. i'll try and update the sops to document this later
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:08:56
did anyone see the announcements on discourse? do they look good?
<@nielsenb:fedora.im>
16:09:34
I have seen them, they seemed fine, though I didn't click the links or anything to verify functionality.
<@nielsenb:fedora.im>
16:10:14
Discourse might be growing on me a little
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:10:53
Brandon Nielsen: don't worry, every single link points to Never Gonna Give You Up
<@nielsenb:fedora.im>
16:11:29
Working perfectly then
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:13:59
alrighty, moving on
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:16:06
!topic Fedora 40 status
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:16:10
*there's* my agenda. sheesh
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:16:15
alrighty, so, the big news here is:
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:16:58
!info the anaconda webUI Change got deferred again, to Fedora 41 - https://pagure.io/fesco/issue/3169#comment-896412
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:17:55
!info I have reverted/deferred all the wiki changes related to this, and the official image is back to behaving as it did in f39 and earlier (the osbuild image is still webui ATM, that should be fixed soon)
<@nielsenb:fedora.im>
16:19:00
I'm not sure I understand what the "mass testing early in the F41 cycle" will do? Have the webui people agreed to change the immediate apply behavior?
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:19:39
that's still being worked out. that was a sop to the concern that deferring it means nobody is going to test anything
<@nielsenb:fedora.im>
16:19:51
Fair enough
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:24:01
!info other than that, we're mostly looking solid for Fedora 40, though there's some concerning stuff on the blocker list that's relatively out of our hands - missing artwork, still no new signed shim build (unless one showed up this morning)
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:24:05
anyone have any other notes on f40?
<@nielsenb:fedora.im>
16:24:42
VRR got waved through over in Gnome land, get excited!
<@pboy:fedora.im>
16:25:00
I have a unimportant question
<@pboy:fedora.im>
16:26:21
Now or in open floor?
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:27:23
go ahead
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:27:37
Brandon Nielsen: not sure if that will make f40 since we're in beta freeze, though?
<@pboy:fedora.im>
16:27:47
Wonder how we deal with a kind of "blemish". For example, in the server installation, the grub image is not centered but offset to the right. When booting, a series of error messages appear that something was not found. Nothing dramatic, everything works. But it does not make a mature and solid impression.
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:29:02
well, those are two separate bugs, i guess. you just file them as bugs. if they aren't getting traction, you can try advocating for some kind of 'clean up' operation, we have done those kinds of thing in the past, but it requires someone to push...
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:29:21
i know the messages you mean, but there's always something more important to do than hiding those. i think they're probably coming from anaconda, dracut or anaconda-dracut
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:30:03
filing bugs is a regular ol' task, getting people to buy into a Clean Up Superficial Issues drive is a social problem. :)
<@pboy:fedora.im>
16:30:07
I supposed a "bug" is to strong for that. I will do so.
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:30:58
nope, bug process is the right process here, i would say.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
16:31:07
OK.
