!info "adamw to file a ticket for further progress on the 'incident management' process idea" - did that, https://pagure.io/fedora-qa/issue/854 . we didn't do too much with it yet. we did have one proposed incident - https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/fedora-43-wine-dxvk-integration-breakage-incident-thread/177256 - but it didn't seem to me like it really fit
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:06:16
bittin (UK Until 20th Jan 2026) i don't think anything changed? still https://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:07:09
ah just my brain that don't remember stuff thx
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:07:33
oh hehe
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:07:55
on the other hand, the current thunderbird breakage probably *is* a good candidate for an incident

16:08:21
we don't have any infrastructure in place yet though (tags)
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:09:22
we can maybe pick it up with mattdm in the new year

<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:09:29
adamw: does packaging .1 fix it?
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:09:34
meanwhile i'll keep trying to get the fix...
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:09:37
no, apparently it didn't
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:09:45
https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/146.0.1/releasenotes/
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:09:47
oh
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:09:56
it seemed a lot like 146.0.1 should have the fix, but today people are reporting it didn't
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:10:12
just a wild guess, won't be any 147 until after the xmas/new years holidays oh well :(
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:10:19
it seems like maybe 146.0.1 was to fix a *different* crash...
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:10:30
we should be able to backport the fix. i'll look into it today.
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:10:35
arghh off
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:10:52
arghh ooff
<@pg-tips:fedora.im>
16:12:25
question maybe from my ignorance - does our automated testing have the ability to catch an issue like this that depends on screen size? like parallel tests that run on different size displays?
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:12:53
have fun
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:14:29
P G in *theory* openQA could do it, but we don't currently. it's another combinatorial explosion problem. after all, it could happen to anything, right? so should we do it for every application? how many screen sizes?
<@pg-tips:fedora.im>
16:14:54
yeah, you could certainly end up "always fighting the previous war"
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:14:54
you can go a bit mad trying to build tests based on past crashes
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:15:06
sometimes it's a good idea, but not *always*
<@pg-tips:fedora.im>
16:15:27
agreed
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:15:37
in theory it might be interesting to run a few screen size-related tests, but we have *lots* of ideas for new tests and we're already behind with them :D might be worth throwing another ticket on the pile though
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:17:06
anyhow, i guess please follow up in the ticket with further thoughts on the incident process, and we can try to get something up and running by the next meeting
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:17:23
!topic Fedora 44 status
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:17:59
i think it's mostly ok? there's quite a few failures on latest rawhide openQA compose tests, haven't had time to look at them yet this morning
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:18:12
still Rawhide, did test a couple of days ago, then Workstation/GNOME build could be installed atleast and https://openqa.fedoraproject.org/nightlies.html/ was green, now its red again
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:18:51
with the latest nominated iso: 17th December
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:18:55
looks like we maybe have some upgrade issues...freeipa from f42, and kde...
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:19:39
the 'last known good' there is a bit of a blunt instrument - right now for e.g. workstation live is almost never going to come up good because of https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2392057
<@abbra:matrix.org>
16:19:44
We have done weird bug reported for upgrades of FreeIPA and it's looking like a regression in 389-ds
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:20:38
: o
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:21:04
the logic is just 'if any test on this specific image failed, consider it "bad"'
<@abbra:matrix.org>
16:21:30
We have done weird bug reported for upgrades of FreeIPA and it's looking like a regression in 389-ds: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2424132
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:21:55
oh
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:22:13
well i usually wait until i get an email that says its nominated and i have time
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:23:02
!info f44 seems on the whole alright, several failures in openQA compose tests need investigating
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:24:10
so next moving to Forgejo
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:24:23
yes
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:24:34
!topic Forgejo migration status
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:24:59
so, we got a bit stuck here for a while on https://forge.fedoraproject.org/forge/forge/issues/321 , but I believe I've fixed that now
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:25:01
also have to learn how that works, more used to Gitlab/Github but guess i will when i have to use it :P
<@abbra:matrix.org>
16:25:12
We have some weird bug reported for upgrades of FreeIPA and it's looking like a regression in 389-ds: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2424132
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:25:12
forgejo is *mostly* kinda similar to github
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:25:19
and nope not used Codeberg instance
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:25:23
oh oki
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:25:46
!info adamw believes he fixed https://forge.fedoraproject.org/forge/forge/issues/321 which had been holding up the process
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:25:56
i kinda want to get kparal to look things over and see if he can see any more issues, though
<@abbra:matrix.org>
16:26:38
Forgejo is great but we still need to get packit and the rest adjusted. Are they ready?
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:26:46
if anyone can see any other issues on the test migrated repo - https://forge.stg.fedoraproject.org/quality/testdays-web - please yell
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:27:00
abbra atm we're looking at moving our project repos, not packages
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:27:51
the CI plan for forgejo projects AIUI is to have some runners for Forgejo Actions, there's a ticket to set up a runner for releng which I assume is a test - https://forge.fedoraproject.org/forge/forge/issues/305
<@abbra:matrix.org>
16:27:58
I'm concerned because for our pagure hosted projects we need actions to work
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:28:57
it seems like things worked in that ticket
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:29:31
i did also test using forgejo actions on a project I have on codeberg, and it seems to work fine. obviously not all the features and canned actions from gha are there, but it's workable
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:29:57
(i did not actually try using a github action like ensure-python on codeberg...I kinda assumed it wouldn't work, but maybe it does?)
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:30:14
maybe i'll file a ticket requesting a runner for the quality org
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:31:21
oh, also that ticket says "On staging there are several global runners you can use for testing"
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:31:27
so we could actually test that now, neat
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:31:32
https://forge.fedoraproject.org/forge/forge/issues/305#issuecomment-252327
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:31:46
maybe i'll do a migration of one of the repos i look after to staging and see if i can make it work
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:32:23
!info there are global forgejo actions runners deployed in staging so we can potentially test setting up CI on a migrated repo
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:33:43
could not log in to staging, but guess i don't have rights :P and thats on purpose
<@abbra:matrix.org>
16:33:57
Packit doesn't work yet (they still fixing bugs and implementing it) so copr build per request is missing. I experimented too using my own runner but having packit to automate builds and then running tests in TF sure will help to simplify it.
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:35:15
bittin (UK Until 20th Jan 2026) i think everyone with FAS should be able to login, but not 100% sure. you may need to use an old password for staging FAS
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:35:22
it has an old user db
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:35:31
oh
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:35:38
i have to use password from a few months back, and no 2FA
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:35:40
might be that then, oh well
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:36:00
i *think* the password reset mechanism should work if you can't get in
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:36:58
no worries, always nice to have a holiday excuse :D
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:37:02
hehe
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:39:07
alrighty
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:39:13
so that's moving along
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:39:15
!topic Test Day / community event status
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:39:42

<@adamwill:fedora.im>

<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:40:00

<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:40:09
he's been having power issues ltely
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:40:12
he's been having power issues lately
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:40:18
yeah saw that in the Kernel channel
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:40:36
so guess things might wait until his part of America has better power :P
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:40:55
(no offence) :D
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:41:33
!info kernel 6.18 and grub OOM test events went off smoothly - https://testdays.fedoraproject.org/testday/10 and https://testdays.fedoraproject.org/testday/11 . many thanks to psklenar and kparal for helping organize those
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:41:52
!info looks like participation was down for the kernel event, we'll have to look at getting that back up for future ones
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:42:03
yeah tested in a VM on my Dell Latitude 7390 in gnome-boxes (running Arch btw) and lending one of lemonzest Dell XPS with Fedora :P
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:42:21
might be just people busy preparing for christmas
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:42:25
and taking a break
<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:42:27

<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:45:55

<@jforbes:fedora.im>
16:46:29

whew
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:47:49
thats good, hope it stays
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:48:21
guessing Fedora 43 will get 6.18 when its 6.18.3 maybe as usual?
<@jforbes:fedora.im>
16:48:22
It should, wind event is over
<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:48:27
(curious)
<@jforbes:fedora.im>
16:48:42

<@bittin_:mozilla.org>
16:48:51

<@adamwill:fedora.im>
16:50:02
