<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:07:09
hehe
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:07:25
There's several tickets around packages not getting blocked in rawhide/f41...
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:07:36
I took a quick look and couldn't see why things were not working.

17:08:38
yep +1 that I need to dicuss as well - I checked the scripts concering that but didn't find anything unusual, also before processing them manually i wanted to confirm the procedure
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:09:20
Yeah, I didn't look in pdc yet... but the process is basically:
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:09:27
I checked the blocker_retired script that i guess should be of concern, doesn't seem to find any issue there :/
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:09:45
so
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:09:48
the retirements
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:09:53
I mentioned koji steps here: https://pagure.io/releng/issue/11981#comment-897919
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:09:57
I think we need to add new release somewhere
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:10:03
jednorozec: πŸ‘‹
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:10:07
someone commits a dead.package file, there's a listener on bodhi-backend01 that sees it, it is supposed to set pdc to an EOL date of that date, then when rawhide and branched run they run releng/scripts/block_retired.py
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:10:23
I couldn't see anywhere missing the new release. ;(
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:11:06
actually sorry...
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:11:21
I misremembered... there isn't anything on bodhi-backend01 here... it's a toddler
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:11:29
yup
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:11:37
and I think that toddler have something in ansible
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:11:40
I looked at it's logs and it saw the commit and said it was setting it. it didn't have any error...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:13:48
the only toddler thingy we did at the time pof branching was this: https://pagure.io/fedora-infra/ansible/c/c9049a56db99f5eebbfebd88f4589b4853d66d3d?branch=main
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:14:41
yeah that might be the right place
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:14:48
40 is missing in some places
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:15:01
but nothing relevant to retirement
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:15:08
like this https://pagure.io/fedora-infra/ansible/blob/c9049a56db99f5eebbfebd88f4589b4853d66d3d/f/roles/openshift-apps/toddlers/templates/fedora-messaging.toml#_190
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:16:47
yes, that needs fixing, but isn't this particular problem.
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:17:00
nope its not but its something like this
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:17:09
we missed some place somewhere
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:17:32
what weird that I remember writing it down into the new docs last year
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:18:15
yeah i checked the issues from 6 months back there were some but cou;ldn't find anything useful out of it
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:19:00
hmm link?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:20:13
pagure is awfully slow for me last couple of days or it's my system i dont understand
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:21:36
There should be some place that says what branches allow retiring...
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:21:47
yup
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:21:47
but not sure if thats this problem because it didn't work for rawhide either?
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:21:55
there is one in releng repo that was updated
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:22:05
perhaps the pdc token is messed up for toddlers and pdc isn't returning any error?
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:22:13
hum
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:24:16
there is a stack trace
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:24:22
not sure if relevant
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:25:07
I'm looking back into logs for kpipewire5...
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:27:09
I don't see that one in logs... but it was like 1.5 months ago...
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:27:11
so the script that actually block stuff has correct fedora versions in it
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:27:36
block_retired.py?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:27:42
So, how about we manually block all the ones with tickets then try and keep an eye out for if it's still happening?
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:27:49
yes
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:27:52
(instead of using our entire meeting on it; )
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:28:08
oh, we need to update pdc too if it's not.
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:28:24
I think its better to fix it and it will pick up all the packages that needs to get blocked
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:28:29
I can take that and fix it
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:28:38
no need to spend more time on it here
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:28:50
I can do that, but I just need to confirm two things for koji we can do koji block-pkg <> <> while for pdc we can make use of ahust eols or what?
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:28:52
I will sync my findings with jnsamyak tmrw
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:29:02
oh you beat me to it sure thing
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:29:13
hack tomorrow :D
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:29:21
well, we should only need to adjust pdc for the date it was retired and then the block_retired script should block it
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>

<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:29:57
I think I found out why the comand wasn't working
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:30:33
I tried listing the f40-flatpak* tags but i couldn't find any which should have een created using make-koji-release-tag script
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:31:18
the question is to investigate, or can I create those tags manually now and not re-run the script to fix it?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:31:19
yeah, they are not there.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:32:18
I'd say cut that part of the script out (the part to do with *flatpak* tags) and run that manually to see where it might be erroring?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:32:32
you could also test in staging...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:32:59
staging seems to be a good testing place for it will do thanks for heads up
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:33:05
I guess that script will just fail on anything thats already created... right?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:33:22
yes
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:34:09
yeah, sounds like there's some problem in the script thats preventing it from making the top tag and then the rest just fail... but I would expect it to output some errors.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:34:20
Anyhow, yeah, try on staging
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>

<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:40:08
this one
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:40:10
so I guess this needs pungi changes... if we want it to happen for beta we will need to get a freeze break for deploying/adjusting that.
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:40:16
are we really doing this for f40?
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:40:52
some changes are already submitted but this will have consequences
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:41:13
as Adam outlined in his comment
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:41:19
I don't know... the accepted change is all supposed to be 'marketing'
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:41:27
exactly
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:41:31
so, I'd be happier doing this for f41.
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:41:36
I just re checked and there was just rename
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:41:40
for the freeze back thing, this needs to be approved by fesco (which both of you are anyways :P) but for my knowledge i'm asking because i'm not sure if we can break and fix things before the beta release happens
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:42:07
we can, we just should be very careful about it.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:42:20
in any case we should change rawhide first and work out any issues.
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:42:35
exactly
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:43:01
so, IMHO, we just keep moving the rawhide work forward for now. If it turns out everything works super well, perhaps we can look at a freeze break for f40...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:43:01
that's why I wanted to bring it up, because with limited capacity i'm not very inclined to do it for branched version and break everything (my pov)
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:43:45
Should I write comment in there ?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:44:01
if you like, sure!
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:44:06
something like: We will work on rawhide and if ready will merge to f40?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:44:14
yep
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:44:48
shall we move on? or more on this one?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:45:21
that's all i can bring this again in next meeting

<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:46:24
so, with the koji upgrades last week I enabled the kiwi plugin. We need however to do a few more things, but we should just integrate them into our usual flow...
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:47:03
namely: we need to make a kiwi-build koji group and we need to make new tags for it to build in, because it needs old_chroot
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:47:54
I guess f41-kiwi-build ? with f41-kiwi target for it?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:48:47
naming convention seems uniform to me, this is something similar to flatpak s also so makes sense
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:48:52
Then 'koji add-group f41-kiwi-build kiwi-build' and 'koji add-group-pkg f41-kiwi-build kiwi-build kiwi-cli kiwi-systemdep'
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:49:31
cool. Can you add it to the scripts? and can you just create it, or did you want me to? (we also need f40 for this)
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:50:12
I can create pr by eow for you to review if that seems fine we can merge it?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>

<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
17:50:30
once we have it merged i can create them

17:57:31
oh, the koji db is still seeing load spikes, but it's mostly ok now...
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:57:34
but there is something weird
<@humaton:fedora.im>
17:57:51
one of the packages does not even have f40 branch in pdc
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
17:58:01
there was a index change in the update that caused some really common queries to no longer use an index. So it was unusable until we added that back
