<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:10:44
morning.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:10:52
Hello everyone, welcome to releng weekly!?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:10:59
How's everyone doing?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:11:25
Apologies for starting the meeting late, i didnt realise my ramen soup will take me a lot of time to finish
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:11:40
Starting with the init process:
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:11:56
!info Fedora Linux 40 Final Freeze starts today at 14:00 UTC, the freeze is intended for two weeks!
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:12:20
hanging in there. :)
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:12:54
Also other thing i want to bring up is retirements
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:13:03
and how we can fix them
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:13:37
I am up for writing an script for it and retrieving the packages that got retired from march 02 (correct the date if i'm wrong)
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:14:09
Ah yes, that fun...
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:14:17
I think if was march 4th? let me look...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:14:33
but i wanted to discuss the logic behind it first
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:14:37
oh yes march 4th
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:14:56
while going today thru releng scripts I found some of these: https://pagure.io/releng/blob/main/f/scripts/check-retired-branches-pdc.py
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:15:48
ah ha!
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:15:58
I was looking for that script and somehow couldn't find it.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:16:05
so yes, thats exactly what we need to do.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:16:50
so we need to run that, collect the list and properly retire them.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:18:09
yep i didn't find a way to filter out from the date wise, but i suppose i can play with the script a little bit and see how it goes
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:19:03
`refine_results_regarding_branches` is the function we can reuse for us
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:19:09
well, in the end I guess we don't need to care about the dates...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:19:26
that's also strur
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:19:27
I mean, if there's other retired packages that are active in pdc, we should fix them too anyhow
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:19:41
makes sense
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:19:43
okay then
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:20:03
!action jnsamyak to test out the script and work on fixing the retirement mess that was left nehind :)
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:20:38
so, one thing...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:20:39
That's all from my end that I wanted to discuss about retirements; nirik do you have anything for the init?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:21:00
that script checks rawhide right?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:21:11
we should also perhaps run against f40...
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:21:36
but we should be careful trying to fix the f40 ones, in case they cause problems. (But they shouldn't, we just should check)
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:22:14
i guess so, should i open a ticket on releng so we can also post things there after the meeting?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:23:47
I'd say just add the info to the existing ticket.

16:24:35
oh yes we have it
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:25:27
should we move on to the interesting part the tickets?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>

sure, lets move on. ;)

!topic Tickets needing attention
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:25:59
!info this is the time where you can bring releng tickets to discuss if there are blockers etc
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:27:44
I was thinking... once it's more quiet (after f40 release), we should start doing backlog in these meetings... sort by oldest updated ticket and process through them. I think there's a lot of old ones we could close or do something with.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:28:33
+1, i think it would also help me, Anton Medvedev and patrikp to catch up on things and fix out issues which are still relevant
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:29:21
ok i have some things to discuss

<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:30:06
yeah... so I am not sure who uses those tags or what they should be.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:30:16
I am thinking we should just try deleting them and see if anyone yells.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:30:50
yeah that's what i was wandering about the solution
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:31:23
jonathan's comment mentions those tags here: https://pagure.io/releng/issue/12041#comment-903533
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:31:26
I mean, we did push them before... so perhaps we could look at the old sync script?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:32:17
but from a consumer perspective, what do you even expect from a 'fedora' tag... latest? latest stable? who knows.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:33:17
So, I can delete them... or... better... I can help you do so/set up needed perms so you can do so if you like?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:34:01
yeah
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:34:18
i'm down for this, I was going to ask what are the powers yu need to do this :3
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:34:19
hahaha
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:34:54
for our registry, you can just do it from compose-x86-01 (or other composers)...
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:35:01
for quay.io I need to add you to the group.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:35:10
I'll put up a comment on the ticket though, that we discussed this and we decided to delete these tags, since they seems irrelevant as this point
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:35:23
but if there will be issues we can fix them on the way
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:36:25
yep. if someone needs those we could point them to some other images...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:37:12
Okay once i start this, i'll ask more questions probably on how to do that
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:37:14
thanks!
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:37:59
okay then

16:38:40
probibly this could move to a upstream bodhi issue...
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:38:47
I could try and file one?
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:38:54

<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:41:38
so we discussed this last time, since it was up for discussion on if the positioning seems to be right or wrong
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:41:51
Yeah, not sure what to do here. Although I guess we could also as an option move the entire dir...
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:42:14
it would mean things would be a bit more strange, but it would be easier from our point of view to move all of it instead of just one image
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:43:27
yeah
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:43:44
+1 to syncing the whole directory to a dedicated place
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:43:45
perhaps you could add that option to the ticket?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:44:08
I kinda don't like it because it means all those aarch64 images will appear non secondary, but... meh
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:44:20
for f40 tho nirik did you already moved the given set of images?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:45:16
nope, I didn't move anything. But if we do this we could put them in whatever place for final release when we stage it.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:45:33
we also need to talk with websites folks about moving things.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:45:50

16:54:32
one quick note: I didn't manage to update sigul like I was hoping due to all the doom... but I'm pondering perhaps requesting a freeze break to do it soon. It's been hovering for a while, and It should be easy to back out if there's problems and I have it mostly all lined up.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
16:54:43
ah yeah, I was going to ask about that...
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
16:55:21
