Should it be a blocker? 01:43:22 It's just the quick preview feature, and not one that's widely used. 01:43:24 Michael is -1 for the above reason - it's non-discoverable 01:43:26 Owen: we can fix it in an update, if necessary; it's not going to stop someone using Fedora - not a critical path 01:43:28 #agreed The Sushi issue doesn't need to be a blocker 01:43:30 #action Chris to forward the decision to QA 01:43:32 Chris: the release criterion for core apps is very fairly general - "a basic functionality test", means that it should do its essential expected functionality. 01:43:34 Also - it needs to pass the "last blocker smell test". Would you delay the release for this one issue? 01:43:36 Michael: we can't enumerate the basic functionality of the core apps - we should close #189. 01:43:38 Neal: we should ask for a freeze exception in case we get a fix before release. 01:43:40 #topic Firefox 78 in Fedora 33 beta? 01:43:42 Tomas: we don't have a successful Firefox build for F33 for some time; will be shipping the Firefox 79 beta. Are we fine shipping a beta for something so critical as a browser? The newer Firefox build is blocking on an NSS issue? The Firefox update should be tied to the NSS update rather than waiting on it. As a result, we're waiting on the update in order to start building 81. 01:43:44 Tomas: are we fine with shipping an outdated browser? Chris & Neal: not really. Neal: we can recompose the media to include the updated Firefox. Chris: but then QA needs to run through tests. 01:43:46 Neal: if Firefox 78 is in the F33 repo, people will get downgraded on upgrade, and Firefox profiles aren't backwards compatible. 01:43:48 #info Tomáš filed a bug 01:43:50 #link https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1881495 01:43:52 #topic ABRT is broken 01:43:54 #link https://pagure.io/fedora-workstation/issue/156#comment-687524 01:43:56 It's been broken for a while. 01:43:58 Neal: why haven't we redirected to a dummy retrace server, to fix local tracing? Chris: that's a Kevin question. 01:44:00 Chris: this was accepted as a beta blocker, but the ABRT bugs aren't getting traction. It's starting to look like it won't pass the smell test. 01:44:02 Michael: either ABRT needs to work or it needs to go. 01:44:04 Neal: doesn't want ABRT removed, would like to see it fixed. We need ABRT to be working. Michael: it does provide some valuable data. 01:44:06 Matthias: we haven't really exploited what ABRT provides; even fixing client-side reporting won't really improve things without us taking further steps to use that data. 01:44:08 Michael: the reason we haven't exploited the data is that the server is missing features to make the data useful. 01:44:10 Allan: seems like the real issue is the general state of the ABRT project. 01:44:12 Unclear how to proceed. 01:44:14 #topic GNOME Software is recommending proprietary software 01:44:16 #link https://pagure.io/fedora-workstation/issue/111 01:44:18 #agreed Deferred. 01:44:20 #topic Open Floor 01:44:22 Matthias: in GNOME 3.38 we have parental controls; do we want to enable that? 01:44:24 Neal: yes, it's a GNOME 3.38 main feature 01:44:26 Allan: are there any cons to enabling it? 01:44:28 Allan: would like to be able to test and see the UI before we commit to it. 01:45:17 #endmeeting
