00:08:12 <brainycmurf> #info Owen's Fractional Scaling doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/128EXPQ0FWI9StGJm180E5JMTUCx7WU6XIG-KkdkagOk/
00:08:15 <brainycmurf> Owen: the toggle changes how mutter's internal coordinate systems work
00:08:17 <brainycmurf> When fractional scaling is enabled we have better rendering and also when dragging to a different resolution monitor. But in Xwayland display gets fuzzy, which is not acceptable for apps being used daily.
00:08:20 <brainycmurf> The current automatic scaling is kind of aggressive.
00:08:22 <brainycmurf> KDE scales everything on Wayland by another factor: X apps not scaled if only one resolution,
00:08:24 <brainycmurf> but have two kinds of legacy apps: gtk2 and Xlib
00:08:26 <brainycmurf> Owen: recommend pushing ahead with the KDE down-scaling approach
00:08:28 <brainycmurf> 2 questions: (1) what can we do to promote KDE-style fractional scaling and time frame
00:08:30 <brainycmurf> (2) how to tweak the UI to make it more comprehensible
00:08:32 <brainycmurf> Experimental on best approach to set scaling
00:08:34 <brainycmurf> At this point targetting F41 seems more realistic and should lead to a cleaner result
00:08:36 <brainycmurf> Neal: would like to see more feature patches first in Fedora before they are merged upstream, would lead to more testing and feedback
00:08:41 <brainycmurf> Currently fractional scaling still enabled in F40 rawhide, will need to be redisabled after branching
