16:52:30 <brainycmurf> Agenda
16:52:32 <brainycmurf> #topic Appoint chair for F41 release cycle
16:52:34 <brainycmurf> Neal volunteers to be chair for the next release cycle.
16:52:36 <brainycmurf> #agreed Conan-Kudo is chair for the next Fedora release cycle
16:52:38 <brainycmurf> #topic Add openssl to the base system

16:52:42 <brainycmurf> Neal: isn't a good reason to install by default, they should be installed when needed (manually or pulled in); consider shipping GSconnect extension
16:52:47 <brainycmurf> michael: we generally don't preinstall extensions
16:52:49 <brainycmurf> owen: prefers not to install GSconnect, bit of a slippery slope - means we like it, recommend it, will maintain it
16:52:52 <brainycmurf> neal: could install extension but not activate it, helps make it better
16:52:54 <brainycmurf> neal: makes argument that the ticket is silverblue, issue doesn't happen on workstation; issue with overlaying openssl with rpm-ostree is the issue but happens in the context of wanting GSConnect installed, so there's a plus of just preinstalling GSConnect to solve the silverblue problem but also help improve the extension by giving it more exposure
16:52:59 <brainycmurf> owen: not sure making GSConnect is sufficient justification, but could just preinstall it in silverblue
16:53:02 <brainycmurf> kalev: used to install QT libraries, not much different to preinstall ssl libraries
16:53:04 <brainycmurf> neal: we still install QT libraries for mediawriter
16:53:06 <brainycmurf> neal: better if GSConnect could use gnutls instead of openssl, and preinstall gnutls on silverblue, we already have it on workstation by default
16:53:09 <brainycmurf> #action neal will investigate a patch to make GSConnect use gnutls certtool
16:53:11 <brainycmurf> kalev: maybe check for both and use whichever is available
16:53:13 <brainycmurf> michael: proposes any of the three options to fix the paper cut: preinstall openssl on workstation and silverblue, or just on silverblue, or a certtool patch
16:53:18 <brainycmurf> #topic Improve the quality of the desktop wallpapers & ensure they're maintained
16:53:20 <brainycmurf> #link https://pagure.io/fedora-workstation/issue/293
16:53:22 <brainycmurf> need to come up with an alternative approach to decide what to do
16:53:24 <brainycmurf> previous concensus for wallpaper to follow a recognizable theme, separate issue tagged in relating to preinstalled non-default wallpapers
16:53:27 <brainycmurf> wide ranging discussion ensues, but central issue becomes once the WG ends up with a consensus how to communicate that back to wallpaper design, as some kind of guideline sounds good but in practice also seems like imposing on others' efforts
16:53:31 <brainycmurf> michael: we can install the other 11 backgrounds, not that many
16:53:33 <brainycmurf> propose two ground rules, some kind of Fedora driven theme, and wall paper should be approved or we should participate in the development process
16:53:36 <brainycmurf> allen: easier said than done
16:53:38 <brainycmurf> kalev: we should tread careful to ensure we continue to have people interested in doing this
16:53:40 <brainycmurf> michael: no consensus yet, needs further discussion
